HitsterParticipantJust under two months after Donovan Mitchell went for 71 points in a game this was equalled by Damian Lillard. Dame did his feat in only 39 minutes compared to Donovan who took 50 minutes and Booker who played 45 mins for his 70 point game.
Dame’s scoring feat was statistically the best scoring feat in time on court since Kobe’s 81 point effort and Wilt’s dominance in his era.
Dame has kept Portland on the edge of the play in/play off picture and he has proved himself to still be at the NBA top table after an injury hit season last year. Also if Portland did hit the rebuild button he has re-established his trade value as he is under a long term contract.
Dame has said he could see someone possibly hitting 100 points in a game with all the current high scoring. We have debated the scoring surge when Donovan had his monster game. But someone like Dame as the dominant scorer on his team could be the sort of player to have another huge game although I’d be shocked if Wilt’s record was ever really challenged.

NorrinRaddParticipantDid you see the All-Star game? That’s one way it could be broken. Another way you can look at it is more points per game per team plus inflated stats equals that possibility.

HitsterParticipantESPN have broken down the amount of shots a player would potentially need to get near to Wilt’s record and that certainly makes it seem statistically almost impossible.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt’ll happen eventually.

NorrinRaddParticipantWas wondering when you were going to start those “vs” battles with prospects… those are fun reads and I like getting other perspectives.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf I do it this year it would probably be sometime around the combine or the first week of June when I take my vacation. I’ve been really busy with work this year. I do have some hot takes though. Feel free to do it yourself as well if you would like to. that would be awesome if you could.

HitsterParticipantOne of the elite 3 point shooters would probably need to beat Klay’s record to have a remote chance and Lillard was only one off equalling that. Players don’t often take over 40 shots in a normal game either and the amount of times Wilt went to the line doesn’t happen now.
LBJ never got close during his first Cavs stint. If MJ at his peak was in current NBA maybe he’d be best option or someone like AI who carried his teams for years in a current scenario too.
I think Embeast may have a massive game in him sometime and do something like David Robinson the last big to hit 70 points did but with his 3 point range he could get nearer to Kobe’s mark possibly.
The other wildcard down the road could be Wemby if he is what we hope he is.
