OhCanada-ParticipantCuban needs to start the rebuild and let Nowitzki walk. They are striking out in free agency and have lost Chandler Parsons. They maybe able to obtain some decent rotation players and put a competitive team around Dirk but I really don’t see them landing a playoff spot next year. They own all thier draft picks and with some young teams looking for a come up out west they should position the organization for future success.
Doubt it happens but they really should be thinking long-term here. Make some Mozgov like signings to get over the cap minimum then overuse Matthews and trade him at the deadline to the highest bidder to gather assets like Phoenix did with Morris. If they tank they could potentially get an elite talent in this draft and be right back on track in 2-3 years.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantYeah I agree. The best thing that could happen to the mavs right now is dirk either retiring or moving on. People give the lakers a bad rep for striking out with free agents. Mark Cubans track record isn’t looking good.

OhCanada-ParticipantAt least Cuban gets meetings with guys and builds successful teams that stays in the playoffs. Dallas seems to always be in striking distance. If they can gather some elite young talent in the next few years I think they could do well in free agency.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantIf I have to pick between those two rosters right now it would be Lakers all day.
