LOL at the best team in the land receiving a 2-seed. At least they put ’em in the worst region, by far.

Sad to not see Monmouth. But I get it. Several losses to massive tomato cans.

ZERO 1-seeds will reach the Final Four. They all possess notable deficiencies.

Redneck USC not getting in with 24 Ws?! That’s gotta be a record # of wins from a Power 6 squad not making The Tourney.

    My Frothy Four:

    Miami (3) vs. Oklahoma (2)
Michigan State (2) vs. Xavier (2)

I definitely have Michigan State beating The X-Men then winning it all but I’m not sure who to pick between The U and Oklahoma.

BTW, it was actually very tough for me to choose between Oklahoma and A&M. A&M is dangerous. Two legit facilitators, they pound the offensive glass, Jones is a lethal 6’7 hybrid forward, and they force a ton of turnovers.

Yale over Baylor is the only 12/5 I can see happening.

KenPom only has Baylor as a 3-point favorite. Yale also drains the 3, defends the 3, and pounds both the offensive and defensive glass.

One of those number 1 seeds with a big deficiency shallacked one team in your final 4 by 25 and was up by 38 on them at one point.  Every team has big deficiencies, that’s why we roll the ball out and let the head to head performances dictate which team is the best.

Oklahoma’s success is so predicated on outside shooting that I would consider them to be a huge wild card in this tournament. I could see them losing in the first weekend just as easily as I could see them making a final 4 run.

They kind of remind me of the michigan team that went to the championship game in 2013. Great backcourt production led by a player of the year candidate ( heild, Burke), not a whole lot of depth and not much frontcourt production going into the tournament. That Michigan team was inconsistent all year but got a huge boost from a relative unknown in mcgary at that time and it helped propel them to the title game.

I see this Oklahoma team as being very similar. If they are going to make a deep run though, I think they will need one of their frontcourt players to step up and be that x-factor mcgary was for Michigan in 2013. If they are too reliant on hield to carry them, I don’t think they will last long.

My final 4 is Kansas beating Texas A&M and eventual champion MSU beating Kentucky. The Spartans were an obvious one seed but it really doesn’t make a big difference considering they just would have flipped them and UVA anyway.

I am never really shocked by a 12 over 5 upset and since there weren’t any last year I would expect one or two this year. However I would be pretty surprised if it were Yale considering they lost every game they played to a power conference team this season. I don’t get all that impressed with beating up on the Ivy league anymore.

Little Rock is a team that has beaten tournament quality teams like Tulsa and San Diego State. Purdue is tough inside and has been playing well but a good shooting night or two and I could see Little Rock being this years cinderalla. Chatanooga has some nice wins as well and has tested themselves out of conference. I really like this Indiana team so I won’t be taking the upset on my bracket like I did for Little Rock but Chatanooga is a team to watch. I also really like Stony Brook in that bracket but they got a nightmare matchup playing UK in the first round when they could have been a 2 seed.

As for your Final Four picks I would have to question some based on how the teams were playing lately. Xavier just lost twice to the toughness of Seton Hall so getting by WVU is going to be a tough task. I do like their talent epsecially with Sumner back but I don’t see them as a Final 4 team. Oklahoma cooled off some as well but playing on the road in the Big 12 will do that to just about anyone. I could see them ride a hot Buddy to the Final 4 although I think A&M might be too versatile and tough for them. Miami is another team that cooled off considerably during conference play. Losing to Va. Tech in a game that had big implications was not a good sign.

I always like to ride the hot teams into the tourney which I why I picked 3 conference tournament champions in my Final 4. Texas A&M gave UK all they could handle as well in the SEC title game. The SEC might have been down as a conference this year but I would say it is underrated after only getting 3 teams in. Two of those teams getting to Indy could be a bit of redemption for the conference image.

     Dale,

I have the exact same Final 4, and I put it down several days before seeing this post! We must think alike!
