I hope he stays healthy, I want to see the bulls at full strength and contending in the east.

I never thought that he was the best PG in the NBA. But I still think he’s a great player. I’d love to see him bounce back. Hopefully him and Carmelo Anthony kill the NBA.

 If you didn’t think he was the best PG in the league you didn’t watch him on a nightly basis against the other top guards. It started with his performance against Rondo in the epic first round playoffs in 2009. For two years after that he continued to go head to head against CP3, Russ, Rondo, Wall, Parker and every other top PG and dominated his matchup on a nightly basis. When I would watch those guys against opponents not named Rose, they were different players. Almost as if when playing against Rose they knew he was better and they had a defeatist attitude in the process. There was no doubt he was the best in the league and probably the 3rd best player in the league. There is a reason he started on the Olympic team over all those other great lead guards. 

My avi on this site used to be Rose in his Simeon jersey but I was so upset and sad with the second injury I had to remove it. You’re post inspired me to change it back. #TheReturn2.0

 Man what? Derrick Rose does not have an Olympic gold medal. He’s never played on a team that represented the US at the Olympics. Rose was on the 2010 FIBA world championship roster, along with Billups Curry and Westbrook at PG. Had Paul elected to compete in that even he certainly would’ve been the starter ahead of Rose. It’s no knock on Rose, I’m a big fan & I hope he’s back in full effect soon. The league’s certainly better with him healthy and hoopin’.

My bad, it was FIBA, but you’re wrong thinking that Paul would have started over Rose. Again, I was thinking of that two year period where he dominated every matchup (murdered CP3), was the youngest MVP ever, and started on whatever national team he played for. Coach K was enamored with him, and rightfully so. Humble, hard working, team oriented player with good size and great strength who also happens to possibly be the most athletic player to ever play his position.

 Really want to see D-Rose MVP form back as he has only played 49 games over the last 3 seasons. I felt totally gutted for him when he had his 2nd injury after doing everything right and long term in 2012-13.

The key for D-Rose this year is to stay sound and let his form come back to him, he’ll need games to get back but I really hope he plays 75 plus games this year and makes next year’s All Star game on merit.

I don’t question if he can make a full recovery from his knee injuries. I question if his knees can withstand the pressure he puts on them. He puts so much more wear and tear on his knees than most athletes. He’s been playing this way for years so you have to think the tread on his tires are worn. Nobody cuts, stops, changes directions, explodes, etc at full speed and with so much power like he does. You have to wonder how long that meniscus repair will hold up. I’m actually more worried about his meniscus tears (suffered a small one in his left knee too during his ACL tear) and just the general wear and tear of his cartilage than I am about his ACL. 

I hope he can stay healthy. Hopefully, the Bulls are careful with him and don’t run him into the ground. I’d like to see him held out of back to backs at times and average around 30 minutes per game. 

A lot of people want him to return to MVP form. Hopefully, the Bulls can get him enough help to where he doesn’t have to have to be that player all the time.

 Derrick Rose is probably my favorite all time player to watch since I missed out on the Jordan era, and a lot of Kobe’s prime I was too young for. I really hope he can regain his status as the most exciting player in the league. Especially if Melo decided to sign, the Bulls would be LEGIT

It would be an incredible leap of faith to think Rose can fully get back to where he was in 2012 if only because of how he took on two and three defenders to get to the rim. That aspect of his game, which really was unique, is probably gone. Evolving his game, however, does not mean he cannot be at that same level. The Bulls are in an interesting position. While so much of the attention around them surround Melo and Love, I think they can improve themselves even if they go a different route. Arron Afflalo would be a great pickup. Orlando’s rebuilding is not going swiftly, and there is a decent to good chance that the best players available at #4 and #12 are guards. Paul Millsap and Al Horford were dangled last season by Atlanta, and there is far more certainty with what a team that plays defense would get from asking Paul Millap to play both ends of the court at a high level than Kevin Love, and won’t come at the same cost. Al Horford is coming off an injury, but the long-term impact of a torn pectoral is much less scary than a back or lower body injury. Two-years and $24 million for Horford is a contract that should make teams salivate. I cannot imagine the asking price, but what would it be in comparison to to Kevin Love or a Carmelo sign-and-trade? The collapse of the Bucks more or less ruined Ersan Ilyasova, but a return to a team that plays professional basketball would likely work wonders. Honestly, if all else fails, would trading Boozer and a pick for Ilyasova and Zaza the worst move in the world? Paying Boozer to go away while still not having much cap room accomplished little. Coming away with a tougher than he looks stretch 4 and an overpaid backup center moves them forward a touch, especially if they can acquire Afflalo.
