valentineThis isn’t a post about who is better(i still say westbrook) but a post about how close these guys are to CP3 and Dwill. Career wise they aren’t there because they haven’t played long enough but as far as this year these guys have been balling with a capital B. Its almost like they have been coming on this site and reading our debates about who’s better and then try to one up each other in the game. Drose is scoring at will and getting int he lane getting to the basket or hitting the floater. Westbrook has been getting in the lane anytime he wants and putting it on peoples heads like they are a foot shorter then he is while also playing good defense. both are dishing up a storm and if you watch the thunder you cant say Westbrook assist just a product of durant or that he only scores because durants on the team. He’s scoring because he is good. And you cant say Drose is just a scoring guard because he’s shown he can pass as well. This is the competition that Gordan and Mayo were having for a couple of years( not this year Since mayo seems to have competition with henry and now my man vasquez and other offensive options so his margin for error has gone down which isn’t good since hes mostly just a jump shooter at this point) Mayo actually needs the beasley treatment and put on a team where hes the 1B or second option
Dwill and CP3 are still the kings of the hill but Drose and Westbrook are climbing fast(yes rondo is still up there as well)
So weather you like rose or westbrook better one things for certain, both are stars in this league right now

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI agree with you that they’re getting close to CP3 & DWill..
But until Rose Steps up his defense..And Westbrook’s offensive game becomes more polished..They’ll always be a step behind CP3 &DWill…

OhCanada-ParticipantWestbrook seemed to outplay Paul tonight. The stats are about even although OKC ended up with a win and westbrooks strong 4th qaurter was the key to their success.

jaysmith1987ParticipantHe’s looking like a 6’3 iverson with better passing ability.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWestbrook outplayed Paul in the 4th quarter, when it matters the most.
Westbrook was in attack mode, while Paul was still going to West, who was bothered by the length of Durant and Ibaka.
I wanted Paul to take over the game, but he seemed to be lacking that explosion and quickness to get into the paint and make shots. He seems a step slow.

stanford hoopsHe had problems doing that because westbrook is quick strong and a good defender while also being athletic. i figured he would give paul some problems like dwill does but i did think he would play better defense on westbrook. point guards in the nba today and in the near future might be the best at one time ever

Mr. 19134ParticipantD Rose is as fluid as Iverson was. Rose is fast but he don’t got that crazy quickness in terms of body movement and reminds me more of Steve Francis then Iverson. Westbrook for instance is quicker then Rose and it’s evident when they play on the same court tho Rose but be faster. Does that make sense?
Anyways John Wall is the first player I have saw play that reminds me of Iverson’s speed. It sucks the way things turned out but if you are old enough to remember Iverson when he played for Georgetown and his first years in the league were unlike anything anybody has ever saw. Iverson seemed to have a speed that was new to human eyes. He wasn;t just fast, or one of the fastest, or the fastest guard in the league. He was Iverson. He was a whole new class of speed that has never been measured before. John Wall has that kind of speed. Its not only his open court speed but how quickly he moves his hands when dribbling in traffic, or adjusting in the air.

stanford hoopsYea iverson was on another level. I dont even think wall is on that level because iverson was not only fast but had quick play ground handles. Wall has handles but not iverson handles

butidonthavemoneyBoth players have issues, but they are producing big time. Even though they lack the savvy, or basketball IQ of Williams and Paul, they are finding other ways to DOMINATE.
You can’t go wrong with either player at this point. Both should be all-stars, and lead their teams to regular season success.

Mr. 19134ParticipantKyrie Irving reminds me of another Chris Paul. He got the athleticism but uses his brains, and court savvy instead of explosiveness. He is like the John Wall anitheses at point guard. But Irving will win every bit as much as Wall does.

jaysmith1987ParticipantI think Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose are very similar the only real difference I see is that Rose has his own team and Westbrook is number two but hes a hell of a number two option and i think if he was the star on his team he would be really good I really dont see the difference in these players.

Cardinal_FanParticipantThe clear cut difference is Westbrook is a tenacious defender and Rose seems uninterested at times on the defensive end. I think Westbrooks game is developing at a much faster pace due to the fact he has Durant along side of him. But Westbrook is more complete than Rose at this point imo. Not saying that either is a finished product but as of rite now give me Westbrook.

yaboymalParticipantok I will admit it last year I said d rose was hands down the better point guard but this year I think its to even to decide. They are so close I personally feel that you cannot say one is better if you pick one over the other it is more of and opinion then a valid reason. All I gotta say is the point guard position is so strong now, on that note team usa will not have a problem at all when it comes to the pg position
