qDizzle32ParticipantHere’s some notable names of players who declared themselves eligible for today’s draft.
Pierre Jackson- A college All-American last year at Baylor. Drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans, signed with a team in France but then left before playing a game. Even though his rights are still held by the Pelicans, he could still play for any D-League team rather than only the Pelicans affiliate.
Ricky Davis- Another former NBA player attempting an NBA comeback years after years out of the league. Teammate of LeBron at the beginning of his career.
Grant Jerrett- Made a bizarre decision to come out for the NBA draft last year after averaging 5 points and 3 rebounds at Arizona. Still got drafted in the 2nd Round by the Blazers as his rights were then dealt to OKC. Actually looked impressive for the Thunder in the Summer League. Was never signed by the Thunder so they wouldn’t have to worry about cutting him and give him more time to develop. Rights are still held by the Thunder.
Scoop Jardine- Former Syracuse Orange and All-Big East Player. Started over Michael Carter-Williams two years ago. Just signed a big contract in Italy but decided to leave and take less money for the attempt of an NBA career. Boyfriend of MJ’s daughter.
DeAndre Liggins- Former Kentucky Wildcat and was waived by the Thunder after his arrest of assaulting his girlfriend.
Athanasios Antetokounmpo- Older brother of Bucks rookie Giannis. Originally declared for the 2013 Draft, pulled out (rumored to be over citizenship issues) and would have been automatically eligible for next year’s draft with him being born in 1992 but must really want to increase his draft stock by playing in the NBA’s system. Didn’t mean to get EuroBaller excited lol.
Aquille Carr- The 5’7 YouTube sensation who originally committed to Seton Hall. Then made the decision to forgo college to go pro. Was a Top 100 high school recruit last year by several different sites.
Nurideen Lindsey- Former St. John’s and Rider player. Was projected as a future 1st round pick by this website before he quit St. John’s team.
Norvel Pelle- The #1 ranked Center from the HS Class of 2011 by Rivals (That was counting Anthony Davis and Cody Zeller as PF’s). Committed to St. John’s and Iona but failed to ever make grades to play college ball. Bounced around several different prep schools before originally declaring for the 2013 NBA Draft. Participated in the Draft Combine but pulled out of the draft at the last minute over a “foot injury” which was believed to be used as an excuse. The real reason why he took his name out of the draft was really believed to be over his terrible results at the combine.
Salim Stoudemire- Former College All-American at Arizona and younger brother of former NBA player Damon Stoudemire and cousin of Rockets player Terrence Jones.
William Buford- The Former Ohio State Buckeye who surprisingly went undrafted in 2012.
Quincy Douby- Former 1st Round Draftee from Rutgers. Had a 60 point game in China at one point in his career. As a Kings fan, I just look at him as the guy they passed on Rajon Rondo for.
Abdul Gaddy- 2009 McDonalds All-American who had a successful 4 year career at Washington who went undrafted this year and was cut by the Bobcats.
Kiwi Gardner- Another 5’7 YouTube sensation. Originally committed to Providence but could never make grades for college. Went undrafted in this last NBA draft as expected. Played on the Oakland Soldiers AAU Team with Aaron Gordon, Jabari Brown, Kyle Wiltjer, Dominic Artis, Nick Johnson, Brandon Ashley and Josiah Turner. Also from my hometown of Manteca, CA.
Dario Hunt- Former All-Mountain West Player for Nevada who went undrafted in 2012.
Harouna Mutombo- Former Western Carolina Star and nephew of former All-Star and possible future Hall of Famer, Dikembe.
Kevin Parrom- Started some games for the Arizona Wildcats last year. Had a big story a few years back after he got shot then the death of his mother weeks later
Jamine Peterson- 1st Team all D-League Rookie in 2011. Went pro after getting kicked off of Providence and his team in Greece. Put up unbelievable stats in for the New Mexico Thunderbirds and probably only went undrafted in 2011 over his character issues.
Reggie Johnson- Former Miami Center and member of last year’s ACC championship team led by Shane Larkin.
Charles Boozer- Probably won’t get drafted but the younger brother Bulls player Carlos Boozer. He was a reserve at Iowa State and sat on the bench for the Bulls Summer League Team this past summer.

qDizzle32ParticipantIn case you are wondering why players like Adonis Thomas, BJ Young, Myck Kabongo and Vander Blue aren’t on there. The reason why is because they are all automatically eligible to play for the NBA team who cut them’s affiliates. It’s just an awkward rule that any player with a non guaranteed contract who gets cut’s rights go to the affiliate of the team who cut them. Which I find being stupid because they could still get called up by any team.

qDizzle32ParticipantAnother rule about the D-League that many of you may not know is that you are only allowed to get called up by an NBA Team if you have already entered the NBA Draft before. For instance, that was why Glen Rice Jr. never got called up last year, because he had never declared for an NBA Draft after he was kicked off of Georgia Tech.

SiggyParticipantEven by D-League standards that looks like a weak group.
I don’t get why the players who’s rights are owned are in the draft pool but the undrafted players who were cut are not. That’s ass backwards.
Giannis’ brother entering is interesting. I thought he already had a contract overseas. He’s not as freaky as Giannis in terms of dimensions, but he looks more athletic to me. 6’7 with great length and hops, kinda like a Christian Eyenga.
I liked Buford’s game in college…especially before his senior yr. Jack of all trades SG. Maybe he’s just not athletic enough or doesn’t have a stand out quality. I heard he absolutely sucked overseas.
Greedy Peterson’s name is one I haven’t seen in a while. I liked his game in college. Kinda played an undersized PF, but he was a beast.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantI’m interested in seeing Bo Spencer, one of my brother’s best friends, graduated from Glen Oaks high school in Baton Rouge with my older sister. He’s not a great player, he’s a one dimensional streaky shooter/scorer, BUT… everyone likes to see someone they know do good.
