KHAM83ParticipantWhat do you all think are the chances that Curry may break Wilt’s record and drop 100+ in a game? He is probably the best scorer in the game, is the best 3 point shooter, GSW gets plenty of possessions a game, and as pg he has the ball in his hands on nearly all the possessions. If teams start to double him without the ball, he’s great at running around screens to get open. I think if he’s feeling it, and feeling like it, he may have the best shot at accomplishing this feat. Add to that, Kerr and the team has a cockiness to them that they’d keep feeding him if he’s in pursuit.
Your thoughts?

Bankroll PJParticipantI think we need to worry about Kobe’s 81 before we worry about Wilt’s 100. I don’t think Steph is selfish enought to get to 81 but he’s definite capable. If anyone can get to 81 it’s him but I think Wilt’s 100 is untouchable.

Kwame33ParticipantAdditionally, that Lakers team needed Kobe to do things like that. When he scored 81, his team shot around 30 percent from the field, around 20 percent from deep and the game was rather competetive until Kobe made some plays and free throws to give them a safe lead. That Lakers team depended on herculean efforts from Kobe to even be mediocre. This Golden State team isn’t as in need of efforts like that from Curry. With the Lakers being so bad and Kobe being the volume shooter/scorer he is, the circumstances were jussstttt right.

DukeDaSquadParticipantIf curry ever shoots 63 fg and 32 ft in a game he would easily eclipse 100 but that is never going to happen

losnopesosParticipantI don’t think so because teams will triple team Steph if need be, just to make someone else beat them. Maybe a team with no pride like the Sixers or Bucks. If anything I would think that players would get physical enough to not make it feasible to leave him in in the fourth.

The GoatParticipant4 x 3s, 4 x FTs and 2 x layups per quarter would equal 80 points (inc 16 made threes). Dare i say its more likely someone claims to have broken Wilts 20,000 before someone cbreaks his 100 point game

Hype MachineImagine how different the NBA would be today if Wilt had 500-1000 illegitimate children.
With his genetics, its safe to say at least half would be unstoppable beasts.
Each team would have 3 or 4 Chamberlains fighting for minutes in the frontcourt.

Hype MachineI honestly think Steph Curry could score 80 at some point in his career.
- Enters game in attack mode and all his shots go down early
- Tight game that the Dubs really need to win so he plays 42+ mins in regulation
- Opposition needs to foul at the end of the game to stay in it = FTs
- 2 overtimes where he adds another 15
- Triple overtime where he goes into takeover mode, scoring another 10 on 3s and fts
Box Score
22-24 fts = 22 pts
15-23 2pt% = 30 pts
11-15 3pt% = 33pts
Total = 85 pts
The perfect Storm….but not impossible!

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantSteph doesn’t get to the line nearly as much as wilt or Kobe did, which is a way to put points on the board without the clock running. Plus he plays on a much more balanced roster. He’d have to get really hot from 3 ( I’m talking at least 15 in a game) to have a shot at 81 ( 100 is out of the question) and it would have to be a team effort to purposely get him as many shots as possible. If would be kind of fun to watch him attempt to go for it in a meaningless end of season game.

HeroescantdieParticipantWe’ll, Wilt back then was on another level and nobody is more physical and taller than him, He’s more taller, stronger, and more athletic than anyone back then. He’s basically a Nba player playing amongst college or highschool players that time. Curry this time faces great defenders, and defense is more advanced now than before. Wilt was just unstoppable that time cause he faces not that advance defenses and less athletic, shorter and less stronger players.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantWilt also took a ludicrous 63 shots from the field and attempted 32 free throws while playing the entire 48 minute game. Curry scored 51points on just 28 FGA and a mere 3 free throw attempts in just under 36 minutes.
Right now the average team in the NBA has about 84 FGA a game, while in 1962 that number was just under 108. Players nowadays just don’t shoot enough to challenge a record like that.

DolanCareParticipant100 points in a game will never be broken. Defenses are too sophisticated and players are too proud to let someone drop a hondo on them. Not to mention, Steph plays with really good players who probably won’t like standing around while Curry unloads his clip.
That all said, it would be legendary if the Warriors give Steph the green light for one game… against the Lakers or another bottom feeding team. I don’t doubt that he could drop at least 70 if given 55 shots.

HitsterParticipantKobe’s 81 point game was a once in a life time performance. The days of Wilt’s mega games are in another era.
70 points or more by an individual player has only been done 10 times and 60 points or more has only been done 64 times and 32 of them were by Wilt – with 22 players in total achieving this feat.
Steph Curry has a 60 plus point game in him I’m sure if he plays enough minutes and often players may be denied hitting landmarks as games could be won and coaches rest them.
There will also be instances when games go into OT or double OT which can give players higher totals but those happen rarely.
I’d back Curry to hit 60 point mark at some time in his career but getting to 70 or beyond would be a huge ask.

MelParticipantKD is the player in todays game best suited for that type of output.. He can shoot from 3 .. get to rim with ease and get to the line.. Need that trifecta
And Russell Westbrook needs to sit out..lol
So basically, a perfect storm and maybe?
