I’ve heard quite a bit of McCollum/Steph Curry comparisons, but I think two have more in common than they’re getting credit for. I’ll try to list their similarities: Came from small schools, size (6’3),’ had career games against Duke, put themselves on the map in the tourney (Curry more C.J.), excellent shooters, underrated ballhandlers, considered combo guards entering the draft, not elite athletes, and there’s probably more I’m leaving out. The point I’m getting at is their similarities are more prevalent than people are giving them credit for. As a die-hard Kings fan, it makes too much sense for them to pick McCollum. We’ve got the #7 (same number Steph was picked at) and we’ve got the Warriors old assistant in Malone. Am I the only one who sees these freakishly close similarities?

I think they are similar players but Curry could have the best jumpshot of all time. Not that McCollum isn’t a good shooter but that would be like saying Ben McLemore is like LeBron James because he is a great athlete.

I really like McCollum and hope somehow he is there for the Sixers at 11 but the Curry comparisons aren’t fair to either guy.

The comparison goes beyond them being great shooters. You aren’t giving C.J. enough credit for his shooting. I know Steph is on his own level right now but C.J. was shooting over .500 behind the arc before he get hurt last year. I’m just linking them as college players. The comparisons might not be fair but they’re undeniable.

He was pretty impressive in the interview, but I would be mad if I were one of his teammates at Lehigh. He basically threw everyone under the bus by constantly stressing how little help he had in college. I’m not sure what conclusions to draw from that (it’s hard to say whether someone’s a good teammate or not), but that’s what stood out to me more than anything.

I HATE this comparison Curry is a waaayyy better shooter, and a way better passer then what people give him credit for, he looks to get his teammates involve. From what I’ve seen of McCollum he is looking to score only. Dude avg like 2 assist per game.

What most people fail to realize is that this comparison isn’t recent as McCollum was being compared to Curry coming out of high school. In April 2008 a lehigh scout wrote after seeing him play as a jr in high school that CJ plays and could be a Steph Curry type player.

So considering the comparison started 5 years ago and its still being thrown around because they’ve both consistently exceeded expectations since then makes it legit.
