Just a question for folks. I’ve seen a few announcers say something like JLin isn’t particularly big for his position. That got me thinking. JLin is 6′ 3" in bare feet and 6′ 4" in shoes. Are there any taller starting point guards in the league right now? I can think of a bunch around that height, but I can’t think of any 6′ 5" guys. And there are lots of starters under six feet.

Note, JLin doesn’t have particularly long arms. So he gives up lots of reach to similar height guys like Rubio (6′ 9" wingspan).

I’m not sure what their actual heights are but Westbrook, Holiday, and Wall all seem to be at least 6’4 maybe 6’5

All those guys are 6′ 4" or a little under wearing shoes. Same height as Lin. All have much longer arms though.

I know it doesn’t have everyone but close.  Just look it up http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/

Why is everybody on this thread negged?  I haven’t saw any bad comments.  Anyways Rubio is either 6’5 or 6’6 right now he’s 6’4 in socks and list himself as that.  I consider people’s measurements in sneakers because they don’t play in socks plus nearly everybody in the NBA is listed as their sneaker height so it’s too late to start changing it.

Also Holiday has grown about an inch since entering the league.  Wall appear to be slightly taller also.  ‘Reke on paper I guess is the tallest starting PG tho.

If we were asking the tallest person in the league who actually plays PG it would be Lebron cuz let’s be honest he’s the main facilitator of that offense and brings the ball up the court more then any other player on that team.

Lin has very good size for a PG both in height and build I dunno what that commentator was thinking.

I think Tony Wroten is going to become a very good starting PG in the league and if he does he would be the tallest because players his size (6’7") always get thrown at a wing spot as they develop instead of allowing them to play the position they want to play.

I don’t like the listing in shoes, players know they do this and wear Air Force Ones that are like high heels for men.  Players are listed in shoes and thend rounded up, that’s why Blake is listed at 6’10 when in actuallity he’s 6’8.5.  Football players don’t play bearfoot but are measured that way.  It takes away the magin or error to just measure them barefoot.  Some players who enter the draft two years in a row have lost or gained and inch because of the shoes they wore so let’s just make it simple.

I am all for the shoe height and really no one looks at a person and go you are a quarter inch shorter than your listed height.  You would really have to be looking over and over just to see that.  Anything over a quarter inch will probably be noticed though.  Also the arm lengths of some of those other guys make them taller in a way.

Shaun Livington is probably around 6’8" and a half now.  He was close to 6’7" without shoes and that was out of high school so with shoes he is probably 6’8" or taller.

I did not know originally Lin was 6’3" without shoes.  He is more definitely 6’4" with shoes on.  The Knicks have a very tall starting line up.

That is why Lin’s post game is prett good against some players.

The issue is length not height.  Rose is considered big, while Curry is considered small, while in height it’s the opposite.  That’s due to length.

I heard John Wall was 6’4 and now apparently 6’5 after his recent growth spurt.

I mean since Jarret Jack has been out Greivas Vazquez at 6’6 would be the tallest starting point.

Well I got buy somebody’s height value which is their measurements barefoot combined with their wingspan and standing reach.  A player’s wingspan is the most important part.  So a player can be 6’7 but if they’re 6’8.5" in sneakers with a 7’4 wingspan (Rudy Gay)I consider that person to be 6’9" because when he’s on the basketball court his height value is going to be around 6’9.  If a players 6’7 with a 6’10 wingspan then they’re height value is about 6’8.

I just would like to see some consistency and since mostly every player is measured with sneakers on that’s as close as we can get.  Durant tho is listed at 6’9 despite being 6’9" in socks with a 7’5 wingspan his height value is 6’11" and that throws people who don’t know off like they’ll argue with me saying Blake Griffin is taller then Durant because he’s listed at 6’10.

The way I look at a players height in sneakers is not what they actually measured in sneakers but I would just add anywhere from an inch to 2 inches based on their wingspan and standing reach because that’s make all the difference in the world.  It’s the reason why Wade being 6’4 can grab all them rebounds and block shots because he has a massive 6’11 wingspan.

Yeah, but Livingston isn’t playing point even though he does have those skills. It is mainly just that Lin really isn’t going to give up a ton of size or weight on a night in night out basis against other point guards. Assuming they don’t play Lin next to Bibby, the Knicks always have Fields and Shumpert who are big and strong as their 2G. Lin does give up reach against most of these guys, so he is in a way undersized a bit. But just by a bit and not so when playing the smaller guards (Jameer Nelson, Jennings, etc.)

I agree that the height on court is the height in trainers/sneakers but for example in the NFL is the listed weight of the guys with or without the gear on as that would surely make a considerable difference?
