2+- Posted on: Mon, 08/30/2021 - 7:39pm #1252015

OhCanada-ParticipantThats a great pick. Kinda brings the same impact as guys like Middleton or George. Fits in perfect with any team imo.

OhCanada-ParticipantAlright lets cut the BS. I’m going with Russell Westbrook here. I know people view him as a tough player to build around because he demands the ball but I already built my team around Doncic who has just as high a usage and Russ played in Houston with Harden off the ball for the most part and still was 4th in the West with no depth. Gets traded to Washington and they go from being the worst team in the league to making the playoffs. Led the league in assists, great defense, big time competitor and improved his jumpshot. He’s also been working on his jumper alot and I expect him to transition into a very good shooter but thats in the future.
There definitely isn’t 50 players better than Russ. He’s been the best player on the board for a while now. I was considering picking Marcus Smart or Dejounte Murray here for a limited role but neither player would have the impact Russ has and tbh neither player was ever as good as Westbrook even in his rookie year.
Even with his perceived issues based off his style of play he proved he could get Washington back into the playoffs something Beal couldn’t do and Wall couldn’t do for a while so who’s really the better player here?

0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 6:58am #1252027

OhCanada-ParticipantMy turn right? Jonathan Isaac.
Isaac was a DPOY candidate before tearing his acl in the bubble. He had 1.6 steals and 2.4 blocks per game. Only active players to get 1.5 steals per game and 2.0 blocks per game are Jonathan Isaac, Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard a decade ago. This gives my team a legit rim protector.

1+ - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 8:42am #1252035

OhCanada-ParticipantThats an outstanding pick. I don’t think Americans understand how good he is. He averaged about 19 points per game after the allstar break and is probably the most versatile defender in the NBA along with Ben Simmons and Draymond Green. He’s been a all defensive team snub for a while now.
At least 15% of OG’s playing time was spent guarding EVERY position last season. 1 through 5. That old saying “positionless defender” gets used alot but rarely is used in practice. Along with that Toronto gave up 5.1 points less per 100 possessions when OG was on the court.
16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists 1.5 steals, 0.7 blocks close to 50%FG 40%3pt 80%FT.

0- Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 9:03pm #1252054

OhCanada-ParticipantWell I’m assuming you should be able to hire inactive coaches as well, like Stan Van Gundy, Jeff Van Gundy, Marc Jackson, Sam Mitchell. Or even assistants.
0- Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 9:11pm #1252055

armchairgmParticipantI think based off of the “rules” Canada Rising made it can’t be inactive coaches. That they have to be a head coach this year and is based off how they coached last year not their overall body of work just like the players.
0- Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 10:23pm #1252057

sniperParticipantPatty Mills.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 10:27pm #1252058

OhCanada-ParticipantI pick Scary Terry. Since leaving Boston Rozier has developed into one of the league elite shooters. 3.0/7.5 for 40%. I don’t think Joe Harris can defend at this level, he’s gonna need to be compensated for defensively.
G-Doncic, Westbrook
G-Mitchell, Rozier
F-Middleton, Levert
F-Siakam, Isaac
C-Towns, Nurkic0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 11:02pm #1252060

HitsterParticipantRozier is a good pick he was on my watch list for next round.
1+ - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 11:07pm #1252061
Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThere are a lot of good offensive players left but I’m going strictly defense here with pj Tucker. I have more than enough guys that can score and create shots already but Tucker opens up and extra layer of defensive versatility if I want to play a smaller, more switchable lineup.
1+ - Posted on: Tue, 08/31/2021 - 11:17pm #1252062

RUDEBOY-ParticipantKevin Love.. I 🤔 think he still has something left in the tank

1+
- Posted on: Wed, 09/01/2021 - 2:43am #1252070

RUDEBOY-ParticipantNOOOOOOOOO!!! An athletic shot blocking stretch big, every team would love to have on their team. JJJ was about to be my next pick.1 of my favorite players, but i Hate His modest rebounding numbers & ability to commit silly fouls along with injuries has limited him from taking the next step to becoming an all star. Maybe this will be the season he puts it all together.
2+- Posted on: Wed, 09/01/2021 - 3:25am #1252071

ZouldiersParticipantLonzo Ball
1+ - Posted on: Wed, 09/01/2021 - 5:59am #1252078

RUDEBOY-ParticipantJohn Wall..
Seems like everyone has Written him Off…Underrated defender..1 of the best shot blocking guards in league history….Made all defensive 2nd team in 2015…And despite missing parts of the past 2 seasons,he posted solid numbers last season..it’s going to be interested how long he lasts in houston now that the rockets r rebuilding…..maybe the clippers make a move for him?1+- Posted on: Wed, 09/01/2021 - 7:16am #1252081

HitsterParticipantJohn Wall has that mega $47 player option for next year so I cannot really see him turning that down and he’d be impossible to trade. So he may have to wait until 2023 FA season to hop onto a contender unless he agreed a late buy out/waiver with Houston before rosters have to be confirmed to get onto a contender for end of 2022-23 season.
If he can stay sound over next couple of years a lot of teams would be very interested in him as a veteran role player as his performances are still good and having missed time through injures won’t have the mileage other guys his age have.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’ll go with Danny green with my last roster spot. He might not have a huge role but he’ll be a veteran presence with championship experience. Excellent perimeter defender who can be counted on to hit open looks. And he’s a guy that I know I can trust if I need to throw him in a key situation.
1+ - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2021 - 2:16am #1252105

1+ - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2021 - 2:52am #1252107

RUDEBOY-ParticipantWith My Final Selection I’m taking the Hardworking Underrated Rashuan Holmes. I thought about grabbing TJ Warren, but he only appeared in 20 games last season. Dillion Brooks was another guy on my list.
1+ - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2021 - 3:11am #1252108

ZouldiersParticipantMan, so many talented wings will get snubbed here but for my final pick, I’m taking Bojan Bogdanovic from the Jazz. 17 PPG on 39% from 3 and plays solid defense. Great size at 6’7″ especially for a wing player. Considered guys like Norman Powell, Gary Trent Jr. and Dillon Brooks here but Bojan fits what I’m looking for.

HitsterParticipantThere were bound to be some very good players left out if we were only drafting 96 when there are 150 odd guys who are regular starters plus say another 100 good bench players or veterans who we could legitimately consider.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantlast pick of the draft- the ultimate hustle and defensive versatile role who proved this year, he can guard 2-5 with success, and slow 1’s. Defensively- a quicker aaron gordon with a better shot.
Larry Nance jr, who shoots above league average from 3. The ultimate backup for Draymond Green. and Popovich.0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/02/2021 - 6:00am #1252112

ZouldiersParticipantFor the Coach of this team, gotta go with Erik Spoelstra. If Giannis can have success with Bud and Jason Kidd, imagine if he has an elite coach in Spoelstra and given the stars he coached over the years, this is a no brainer pick for my coach.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantAre we naming our head coaches now? If so for Head Coach of The Rudeboys, i’m going with Monty Williams…

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantAt the risk of being redundant, I’m going with steve Kerr again. Coach with championship experience who how knows how to manage egos, and has proven to be adaptable in his philosophy. He really unlocked the true potential of the warriors in 2015, and I think he could get the most out of my team.

OhCanada-ParticipantGoing with Coach Spoelstra over Coach Nurse again. Spo’s the one coach that consistently outcoaches Nick. Its like he knows all his tricks I’ve seen it time and time again and it really frustrates Nick. He gets so mad he turns red like a strawberry and looks like he’ll explode lol. Raptors usually have the coaching advantage until we play Miami.

sniperParticipantI’ll take Budenholzer, mainly cause he just won it all with a very big team, kinda like mine. Mike D’Antoni would probably say the Bucks started three 5s and a 4.
My team:
Chris Paul, Jamal Murray
Jimmy Butler, Joe Ingles, Patty Mills
Tobias Harris, Michael Porter Jr, Royce O’Neale
Anthony Davis, Jae Crowder
Rudy Gobert, Jonas Valanciunas0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/03/2021 - 1:55am #1252125

HitsterParticipantThe Hitster Originals have chosen Nick Nurse as their head coach. It was between him, Brad Stevens and Thibs.

armchairgmParticipantHitster Nurse was taken. I will hold off until you make actual pick.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipant@hister. @armchair in 6 hours from now you can pick over @hister

armchairgmParticipantI wasn’t going to take Stevens or Thibs who I am assuming he will take one of those two. So I will just take Doc Rivers
Coach Doc Rivers
C C Nikola Jokic/John Collins/Chris Boucher
PF Bam Adebayo/Ben Simmons
SF Shai Gilgeous Alexander/Jerami Grant/Bogdan Bogdanovic
SG James Harden/CJ McCollum
PG Trae Young/Fred Van Vleet2+ - Posted on: Fri, 09/03/2021 - 11:03pm #1252135

HitsterParticipantI’ll take Thibs then.
