StarbucksSucksParticipantMavs sign Parsons to a 3 year 45 million dollar offer sheet. This move will destroy the free agency stalemate.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI wonder why the shorter deal for Parsons? I thought his contract would look closer to the one the Hornets offered Hayward.
Finally though… I’m ready for some stuff to actually start happening amongst the top players. This stalemate has gotten annoying.

FearTheStacheParticipantIt’s going to have to happen now. As a friend of Bosh, LeBron is going to have to inform Chris where he is going within the 72 hours. If he goes to Cleveland and doesn’t tell him, Bosh would be screwed.

IndianaBasketballParticipantChris Sheridan is *strongly* reporting LeBron is going back to Cleveland. He says it’s all but done.

drk3351ParticipantThis has ripple effects across the league. If Bosh wants to go to Houston with Parsons to try to contend he needs to decide within 3 days. And once Bosh makes his move LeBron and Melo will have a better idea on things.

doubledribblerParticipantGlad to hear about other free agents. I would love for the big names to sign so teams can start figuring things out though.
Smart move on Mavs though. While everyone is sorting things out Rockets have to figure out a few different things.
I’m assuming Parsons got a bigger deal at fewer years to make it less likely Houston would match, to not hurt Dallas longterm and get Parsons to sign. He basically gets paid around what he is worth over 3 years instead of 4 years and also gets the option to opt out sooner if needed.

hbomb3300ParticipantI figured that Parsons and the Rockets had an agreement that they wouldn’t exercise his 4th year if he didn’t try to sign with any other teams… or maybe they did and Parsons just wants that cash.

r377ParticipantLoving this move by Cuban. While everyone is talking about the big 3 and Melo, he goes and signs a quality player who does a bit of everything.
The Mavs 3,4,5 punch is one of the best in the league now…

r377ParticipantI have zero sympathy for the Rockets. They were so obsessed with getting Melo and Bosh they forgot to look after their own….
How do you think Parsons would of felt seeing all the billboards with Melo in a Rockets jersey, knowing that he would of taken his place.

hbomb3300ParticipantMelo wouldn’t take his role in any way… they would of most likely played Melo at PF and Parson at SF.

jwall1ParticipantSorry but as good as Parsons is he does not deserve 15 million a year….. Not a good move from Dallas IMO because they will still be a middle of the pack team with this addition.

rileymcshea3ParticipantNot good move for the Mavs? The Mavs took the Spurs to 7 games last year and they’ve already upgraded at center with Tyson Chandler instead of Dalembert. Now they get to upgrade at SF too? They replace Marion with a guy who can actually hit 3s and space the court for Monta and Dirk. Not only that but he is 6’9 and has point forward abilities, while averaging 16,5,4 (Averages from last year). 15 million a year for 3 years may not be the best price, but it’s a good one when you can take him away from a in division team without having to trade anything. A core group of Dirk,Parsons, Monta, and Chandler all compliment each other offensive and defensively.

r377Participantreport
——————————-
The Houston Rockets have a standing offer of four years and $88 million to Chris Bosh, but that situation became more problematic with news of Chandler Parsons’ three-year, $45 million offer sheet agreement with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Rockets can match Parsons’ contract and still afford Bosh, but only if they sign Bosh first.
The Rockets would need to complete their trade of Omer Asik, along with another deal involving Jeremy Lin.
Bosh is waiting on LeBron James to make a decision before moving forward, but will sign with the Rockets should James leave the Heat.

ExumInfernoParticipantHouston has to be quick and do lots of things in order, and one more thing is sending Jeremy Lin somewhere. Where do you think he, and some type of asset, will go?
The 76ers have the space to bring him in, Boston can send out Bogans and other nonguaranteed players, Orlando may have room.
So Houston would want to complete the Asik deal and move out Lin, then sign Bosh before they get the offer sheet with Parsons’ much bigger contract number, then match Parsons. That may be the order they need to do everything.
Hopefully it will all be over with soon, or at least one or two of the big names have found a spot and a big, new deal.

machu46ParticipantThe report that Houston’s response was to offer Dirk a max contract is just hilarious even if there’s no way Dirk leaves Dallas.
