Create a team with non – nba players that you would throw together( example: together to be a expansion team for the 2014-2015 ) You can chose ANY whos not in the NBA(Dleague, Euro, College, High School). Just don’t chose like notable Free agent guys. Pick a 12 guy team. I did this a few years back and got some good results soooo lets go! My team would look like:

PG: Dante Exum ( Could run the team with his skill set and set up the team to go along with his defensive skills)

SG: Andrew Wiggens ( improving shooter, fastbreak nightmare, lock down defender. Would play within the offense)

SF: Jabari Parker (create his own shot, play the high low, spot up shooter even through hes not used to it, great IQ team player, proven winner)

PF: Julius Randle( Kids a bully, Over powers people and has a great touch around the rim, might stuggle against bigger guys but other then that will play role)

C: Jahill Okafor (I believe best post game, high IQ, huge body, can even run the floor)

6: Marcus Smart ( Ideal come in the game with intensity guy, high energy, defensive minded passonate player)

7: Adrerian Payne (More vetern player with the ability to pick and pop, role, or fade)

8: Cliff Alexander( Love this kid, big bodied energy guy for this team that will do whatever he needs to)

9: Gary Harris( your shooter off the bench; picked him over a few other notable 2 guard shooters because he is more versitile)

10: Dario Saric ( swiss army knife guy, not sure what his role would be however could be a bench playmaker)

11: Tyler Ennis: 3rd point guard that will come in and not mess anything up, will look to pass and find guys)

12: Thon Maker ( super young, super skilled, most likey wont make an impact but you could bring him along)

Definitally a few notable guys I missed out on, but I just prefered my team like this. Excited to see yours!

     I’ll go with

PG: Marcus Smart – I’ve seen more of him than Exum and I like him

SG: P.J Hairston – Putting up big #’s against better than NCAA opponents

SF: Andrew Wiggins – Best player in the draft IMO, don’t wanna overthink this

PF: Nikola Mirotic – Tearing up a league that’s close to the NBA in terms of quality

C: Joel Embiid – Second best player in draft IMO, again didn’t wanna overthink

the dleague is easier than the ncaa look at some of the players who went straight to the dleague after college they generally put up better stats than they did in college the dleague is more single minded or player centric when the ncaa and nba are more team oriented… pj hariston would not average 21 in college

its more individual, but that’s partly b/c the individuals are better, and partly b/c the individuals just don’t stay there long enough to gel as a team.

I’m not a fan of Marcus Smart.  Fell way off from last year and has a bad attitude.

You did say any non-NBA players, then Real Madrid will easily beat the team you created.

If you want a team that can somewhat play right now and has the potential to be better later I’d go with something like:

    PG S. Rodriguez

    SG J. Navarro

    SF R. Fernandez

    PF N. Mirotic

    C A. Tomic

Then bring in some potential off the bench, some of these guys will probably work their way into the starting line-up quite quickly (I’m thinking Jabari Parker or Wiggins):

    6. Andre Wiggins (back-up SF)

    7. Jabari Parker (back-up PF)

    8. Joel Embiid (back-up C)

    9. D. Diamantidis (back-up PG)

    10. Gary Harris (back-up SG)

    11. Dante Exum (high upside)

    12. Doug McDermott (shooter, can play right away) or Jahill Okafor (high upside, most NBA-ready in his class)

This isn’t a great team, but I bet it can become good in a short while and will play better than the Sixers and Miluakee from the very start.

On a side note, how is tomic doing there now Spain? From the few games I saw, he looked like a really skilled big with length. And I thought he was supposed to be with the Jazz right now or if not next year?? I think he could be a solid rotation big.

Ante Tomic is playing really well right now, being the top scorer on one of the better teams in Europe (Barcelona).

It seems, however, that he is happy as one of the best big men in Europe and doesn’t really want to go to a far away country and play a lesser role.

I’m a Barcelona fan and while Tomic looks great this year, he used to give me headeaches the previous seasons. He made terrible decisions with the ball down low, but now he has changed. He looks solid but it really took him a while to develop.

PS: I really like the team you made up. Sometimes people underrate european players, but that team would give most NBA teams a run for their money. Navarro, Fernandez and Mirotic are without a doubt the best in their positions (not playing in the NBA), but I could make a case for Diamantidis or even Marcelinho Huertas as the starting PG. Also, I don’t think Tomic is the most dominant C in international basketball.

Great, just brilliant. My candidate for Euroleague MVP alongside Sergio Rodriguez.

I refuse to believe that Rudy Fernandez is better than Andrew Wiggins.

He isn’t. That’s why I wrote that Wiggins will probably get into the starting line-up as the season progresses.
