It is fairly evident that the Sixers will regret their decision. Cousins looks like he will be better than Turner by a nice margin in the league. Center is a need position for at least 20 of the 30 NBA teams not wing players. I liked Turner but he doesn’t bring a skill set that is much different from others at his position. Cousins’ footwork may be better than Dwight Howard already and at least ahead of Howard when he was 20 years old. I’m a lifelong Sixer guy but I see they dropped the ball.

You clearly got the 2nd best player in the draft and after a few SUMMER LEAGUE games you turn into a hater. If I was a Sixers fan I would be embarrassed….

I’ve actually been saying this before the summer league, before the draft even, I think Cousins is the 2nd best player in this draft, and Turner is very good, but I like Cousins alot more, but im gonna wait till there careers go a few seasons deep before i hand out my verdict.

With the money invested in Iggy Cousins would have been the smarter pick especially since they managed to move Sammy D, but you can’t fault them. Evan Turner is about as solid as they come. I don’t think he’ll ever be a strong enough scorer to be a perennial allstar, but I think career averages of 17+5+5 are realistic. Turner really needs to shore up that jump shot as well as decision making. Most important though is that he has to improve his handle. He dribbles incredibly loose and high, there are guys in the NBA who will feast off ripping the ball from him. Aside from the loose dribbling he doesn’t have great awareness as to where and when the help D will swarm on him.

I’m not saying that Cousins won’t be better than Turner because I think he will, but you can’t base your decision on SL. Derrick Rose had a subpar SL but heay better then some of the people that had better summer league’s than him that year. Just be patient and wait until the regular season starts.

Both players have a bright future. Cousins impressed alot of people with his body, passing, rebounding, and post moves while Evans struggled and showed frustration in games but wasn’t exactly bad either considering he has to adapt to not having the ball in his hands which Doug Collins will help him improve on that. It is too early to tell since its just summer league and competition is not the same as a real nba game. Both have the “potential” to be great players if they the work in.

its hard to believe how teams that were picking 2 thru 4 were so scared of Cousins weight issues, attitude & immaturity…

But even though he dominated the summer league..If you’ve been watching & following basketball you can see the talent he has..

Plus people were comparing him to Benoit Benjamin & Eddy Curry 2 talented but extremely lazy big men…

Some scouts are afraid of failing..So they go for the safe picks..

Sometimes if a certain type of player shows he can play in the league..G.M’s go for similar players..
Spud Webb’s success opened the door for Mugsy Bogues to be a 1st round pick…

And Players like Glen Davis & Paul Millsaps showed that undersized power fowards can success in the league..

Kobe,Garnett & McGrady success opened the flood gates for high schoolers to come to the NBA
..Until Kwame came along and G.M’s said enufff of that….

Turner will be a pretty good player but he was a bad pick for Philly and that is why he is struggling because he is not what they needed a the two spot especially with Holiday and Iggy who are both ball dominant.

Though Cousins is my favorite player in the draft you guys made a great pick, Evan Turner is super versatile and brings a lot of things to a team that allow them to succeed and win, he is a selfless player and has a great attitude, Summer league can not measure how a player will be able to play in a regular NBA game, it can show flashes of it and guys can demonstrate their skill and potential, it should not show their total game, Evan Turner got every POY award for a reason. He has had a few bad games because he is adjusting to playing without the ball in his hands, don’t forget he was the Buckeye’s PG so he had control of the ball a lot, sure in the NBA he can bring the ball up and run some sets for the Sixers but he will be playing SG and is learning how to be effective without always having the ball, this is what Summer League is for some players, to change parts of their game to better suit their team.

I have already said this and will take alot of heat for this but i think DEmarcus Cousins will be the best player in this class better then even John Wall there are only 8-9 good centers in this league but 22-25 good point guards in the nba also with cousins touch toughness and outstanding footwork he will be the second coming of shaq but not nearly as good
