Double post.  My b. But on topic he should probably still go top 5 so should not concern himself with being #1 with a lot of top talent eligible this year

    Can’t wait for March Madness.

I still think March Madness will determine the draft order.

The "Big Four" have been Parker, Wiggins, Randle, and Embiid this year.  Marcus Smart has been in the discussion too.

I think the top pick is between Parker, Wiggins, and Embiid with Julius Randle having an outside shot.

The draft order of those four plus Smart will probably be decided between March Madness and then right up to the draft.

If Randle is as versatile (ball handling, etc.) as his biggest fans think, then why shouldn’t he be in discussion for the top pick?  If a "more athletic Z Bo" is his FLOOR, then that is pretty dang good.

Of the TOP FOUR guys I think Randle is pretty much somewhere between 3 and 5 or 6 right now.  Jabari Parker is pretty much a lock for top 3.  Embiid is 1 on many boards right now, but I can see him anywhere from 1-3.  Wiggins still has a chance to go number 1 I think.  I don’t think he goes below 3.

March Madness will also help determine the rest of the lottery, guys like Smart, Aaron Gordon, Rodney Hood, Willie Cauley-Stein (highly volatile in terms of draft stock), etc.

For Randle to go number 1, he has to really do well, and I think the rest of the guys have to disappoint some what.  But, it’s possible.

Embiid is at number 1 now, so the top spot is basically his to lose.

Jabari Parker can go anywhere from 1 to 3 with 3 basically being his floor.

Andrew Wiggins can go number 1 if he has a great tournament.  He is a versatile guy who can defend, slash, dunk, and, importantly, sell tickets and jerseys.  … if the Lakers get the top pick then I think it will be between Wiggins and Embiid.  Wiggins will give them a new star to build around.  On the other hand, the Lakers have historically done well with centers.  Embiid could be the next great Lakers big man.

If Boston gets the top pick, then I can see Jabari Parker having a better chance.  He is fundamentally sound and can shoot and score.  He can make plays but isn’t as flashy as Wiggins.  If they are looking for a guy like Paul Pierce then Parker could be the guy.

If Philly gets the top pick, they will be in GREAT shape.  They could use either Wiggins, Parker, OR Randle.

Sacto could also use Julius Randle.  Another Kentucky guy who could hold down the 4 spot.

Julius Randle’s best shot at going number one might be with a sign and trade.  Another team really wants Randle and they offer a great package of players and draft picks.

Randle handles isn’t that great. He is extremely aggressive at attacking forcing his way to the rim, but I don’t think I have seen him use his right hand much at all. It reminds of Shabazz Muhammad.

Everyone has a dominant hand. I couldn’t disagree more about his handles. I mean he’s not a guard. The guy is 6’9”. It’s all relative.

I think Marcus Smart has played/pushed his way out of contention for the top spot.

I would be really, really surprised if the top spot goes to anyone other than Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, and maybe Randle.

Dante Exum is really high on a lot of boards, but I don’t see GM’s rolling the dice like that on an import.

Randle is going to be a very good pro, but the draft is about potential and Wiggins and Embiid’s potential is off the charts. Embiid has the highest potential of any player in this draft and looks like his absolute worse case scenerio is Ibaka which is pretty high floor. With so many good players in this draft I can’t see Randle being picked over people that have much higher ceilings. I have Randle #4 on my board right now, but that isn’t a knock on him at all. In other drafts he would have had a great chance at the #1 pick, btu I do not see it happening this year.

nope,no shot. unless Wiggins,Embiid, and Parker all stay in school, no team would skip those 3 for Randle.

its not shot at Randle, its jus how good those 3 players are and how much more potential/upside they have.

if Randle plays great down the stretch, he will lock up a top 5 selection. the first 3 spots are already locked up, its jus the order thats the question.

There is definitely a shot, especially if either Parker, Embiid or both stay back. If Randle really dominates in march madness and Wiggins continues as he is, Randle could definitely go #1 over Wiggins if Parker and Embiid decided not to declare. If the draft were today, I would not give him a shot at going #1.  Even if Embiid and Parker declare (which they should) if Randle dominates in March Madness and overshadows the other prospects, as well as impresses in draft workouts, he does have a shot. His attitude and motor are impressive, and although he may not have the ceiling of an Embiid or Wiggins, the talent he possesses will always keep him in contention for the #1 pick. The ceiling talk is a bit too overblown IMO, actual talent and attitude should really be considered more than they are now..

I don’t wanna say no chance but it’s slim at this point unless some team pulls a shocker like the Cavs but there was no clear #1 in that draft so i don’t blame them …. i think it’s a 3 way tie between Parker Wiggins and Embiid

I think it’s very unlikely he goes 1st.  The only way I see that happening is if he leads Kentucky to the championship, and averages something like 28 and 13 from here on out.  I don’t see him getting in the top 3.  I’ve got him going 4th right now.

Yes, of course he can.  I think that before the start of the college basketball season, nobody would have said Wiggins could slip to 3rd without getting roasted.  Now, a person from his own team seems to be the consensus for #1.  I don’t think any team should draft for need when they get a Top 3 pick in a year where there is potential superstar talent (of course there is always someone with superstar potential, like Paul George, who slips to #10).  That being said, teams DO draft for need with the #1 pick sometimes.  Randle could grade out as a Top 5 talent on most draft boards AND could be the #1 PF on most draft boards.  If a team is drafting for need and needs a PF, Randle COULD go #1.  Hell, not too many people thought that Bennett would go #1 and he did.  There are very few certainties when it comes to the NBA Draft.
