RUDEBOY_ParticipantEvery year it seems some player emerge from an unknown prospect to shaking hands with David Stern on draft night.Jamie Skeen could be that player this year..And in a weak draft, that is lacking quality big men.. Skeen could possibly go 1st round.VCU’s Tournament run has gotten him notice as a future pro…Skeen reminds me of Utah’s Paul Millsaps who isnt a great athlete either but is a very effective player…Some team in the late 1st round is or early 2nd round will be getting a solid rotation player….
Strengths
-He’s a solid post scorer
-Has great length
-A Strong Frame
-Decent Shooter
-Plays with intensity
-VersatileWeakness
-Lacks lateral movement
-Isnt very athletic
-Sometimes have trouble guarding playing on the perimeter0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/02/2011 - 4:06pm #516984

ghettosermonParticipantI see some similarities but don’t forget Paul Milsap was one of the most prolific rebounders in college basketball history. Only player to ever lead the nation in rebounding 3 straight years which is how many he played. Skeen is just an ok rebounder. I actually compare Skeen to a Udonis Haslem. Tough nosed player, extremely cerebral and fundamentally strong. Range far from the basket. As of today he’s a mid-late 2nd round pick but with good workouts I don’t see why he can’t be a late first rounder. Lazar Hayward was a first rounder last year and Skeen is similar.

BKKnicksfanParticipantI think people are getting a little too excited about him right now. Let’s forget about him and let some months go by. He’s a good talent, but I don’t think he’s a top 40 pick. He had 2 great tournament games (26 vs Kansas, 27 vs Butler, but only 12 vs G-Town,13 vs Purdue and 11 vs Florida St) Other than that, no real games stood out other then the 23-9 he had vs UCLA.
I wanna wait on him. I’m still saying mid to late second rounder.

The lake show2you forget what site you’re on?..The people on here always get overly excited when someone from a small school plays well in the tournament.

NattyParticipantSaying "2 good tournament games" doesn ‘t mean he’s only had two good games…it means you’ve seen him play twice.
The only thing holding Skeen back is he didn’t play for a BCS school this year (don’t forget he was a former Mr. Basketball in North Carolina before playing for Wake as a freshman and soph.)
Looking at the numbers of several NBADraft.net 2011 Mock first rounders with similar skill sets (Jon Leuer, Chris Singleton, JaJuan Johnson, Tobias Harris, Tyler Honeycutt, and Trey Thompkins)…Skeen hit a higher % of his shots from both inside (52%) and outside of the arche (41%) than any of them. He’s also an incredibly unselfish player, being the ONLY player of that group to average under double digit shot attemps/game (9.7).
Skeen can ball, and I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up going HIGH 2nd round..if not somewhere in the first.

LakerQEven in this weak draft there are a nice amount of players that will and should get picked ahead of him

OhCanada-ParticipantNo way he goes in the top half of the 2nd round. he would be lucky to make the 2nd round, and he will be lucky to make "my" draft board once everyone is finished declaring.

NattyParticipantHit 52% of his shots, 41.9% from long range this year…not a ton of 6’9 240 guys in this year’s draft did that, and if they did, they are hovering high in the first round.

LakerQHe will go first or early second. Questions about his down low game is what concerns some. Alot of teams want a big guy that plays ig not a big guy that wants to be a guard

renee88ParticipantI think Jamie Skeen will go first. He has the heart and the determination of the game. Just because he came from a small town does not mean nothing. Don’t hate on him.
