valentineHow do you guys like your comparisons?
A) Mixed race or Same race
B) Based on playing style, ceiling or realistic.
Just for kicks…make a comparison for any player you like using only players from other races.
Its harder than you think.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI don’t really care what the race of the comparison is, I care if its a fit.

trelos6ParticipantI prefer to see all the players in the NBA as professional basketball players, regardless of ethnicity.
Comparisons should be made based on playing style, ceiling/floor and current ability.
Please don’t compare Zhou Qi to Yao Ming just because they are both over 7’2", from China and play C. Physically, he’s more like John Henson, and playing style, maybe similar to Valanciunas? Both have decent offensive games, can be good shot blockers, run the floor well.

sitlbitoParticipantSometimes international players are compared to other international players because of their style of play. It’s a matter of how the game was taught. Like Jonathan Jeanne who’s a 7-2 prospect, will be compared to Rudy Gobert simply because he’s a typical French prospect, and he’s not comparable to other players outside his country. I don’t see a problem there.

trelos6ParticipantI do understand that foreign players are likely to have learnt the game the same was as their fellow countrymen, and therefore have similar games, so in this case, the comparison is fair.
Eg. Where this fails would be say the Spain team. Rubio and Calderon. Couldn’t be more disalike as players.

ZachAttackParticipantComparisons are comparisons regardless of race. I can compare a black and white guy anyday.

SandNot bad not bad. KD/Wiggins are hardly mixing races right? They grew up like a few hundred miles from each other. Its also a bad comparison.
Nonetheless +1 for the Smart/Russell stinger.
Then -1 cos I know you already +1’d yourself.

Make’Em Say UGHParticipantI think it should always be broken down into 2 categories: ‘Playing Style’ & ‘Impact/Ceiling’
Prime example: Brandon Ingram. Hate it or love it he’s compared to KD for a reason. Playing style! But so many people get offended by this for whatever reason…when it’s just a playing style comparison. We’ll have to see wait and see how much of his game translates to ‘impact player’ and how high his ‘ceiling’ will be but that won’t change his approach to the game or the fact that he’s a 6’9 forward with a ridiculous wingspan that loves to shoot the ball.
