he’s definitely a good player but his production is down, i think he’ll get drafted but it should be in the early 20’s of the first round at best

i’m not going to say he is a bust simply because he is on a team with a perimeter orientated offence and isn’t getting touches. When he has played against other players his height he has struggled, unfortuntaly for him the NBA is full of 7 footers and he won’t be able to do that baby hook he does. he has the makings for a bust but lets at least wait for him to get into the league and fall on his face before we say this.

I think he’s very similar to Brenden Haywood, but he seems to be a little better offensively..I don’t think he’ll be more than a serviceable starter though.

I concur. I think a team in need if a C in the top 10 should select him when they have the chance. He would be a helpful piece for some team no doubt, but if your looking for a franchise builder or even an All-Star, you’ll be disappointed

I think he’s Joel Pryzbilla with a hook and a 14 footer. Its easy to look at his stat card and say he is going to be a bust, but I agree with Iggy, a servicable starter and one of the best outlet passers at center than I’ve seen in quite some time

I thought esperanzafleet69 made a very interesting comment about the draft which is in line with what I always say, there are several dumb NBA GMs.

I’m interested in Cole Aldrich in light of the comparison between him and BJ Mullens. They were two highly touted centers coming out of high school and both of them were horrible during their freshman seasons. But unlike BJ Mullens, who jumped to the pros, Aldrich was smart enough to come back to Kansas where he had a terrific sophomore season. I thought he was going to go in the last draft, but he and his father thought another year at Kansas would benefit him. I have to admire them for making such prudent decisions.

It’s too bad BJ Mullens didn’t return to Ohio State, that decision may haunt him his entire career.

I’ve never been impressed with Aldrich on the offensive end of the court, but any guy who can grab double digit rebounds and block several shots per game has a place in the NBA. Aldrich needs to go to a team that needs rebounding and shot blocking skills, as opposed to offense from their big man.

I wouldn’t say Cole Aldrich had a horrible freshman year, he was just playing behind Sasha Kaun, Darnell Jackson, and Darrell Arthur ( all who were drafted ) on a national championship team. He was raw and just didn’t get a lot of minutes. When he got them he producted- ex: the NCAA tournament game against North Carolina in the Elite 8 when Aldrich shut down Tyler Hansbrough when he was on the court, including blocking one of Hansbrough’s shots with his forearm.

OK, let me rephrase my characterization of his freshman year. He didn’t live up to the hype he had coming out of high school, so I would describe it as a disappointing first year.

How I characterize his freshman season isn’t as important as the fact that he was smart enough to come back to school, work hard on his game the past two years, and turn himself into a legitimate top ten selection in the first round of the upcoming draft.

If BJ Mullens took the same route, he possibly could have become a top ten selection and would have put himself in a position to earn a ton of money next year.
