The 76ers have a solid young foundation in place, starting with a frachise cornerstone at the hardest position to fill in Jahlil Okafor. Now they have a chance to add another one in Ben Simmons. Colangelo starts his offseason by claiming he’s willing to trade Okafor. He should be untouchable, given that centers with his skill can only be found every 10 drafts or so. Jahlil, along with Karl Towns, could be the best center prospects since Shaq and Dwight.

They should continue to build through the draft like Hinkie did. Don’t overuse your assets to acquire overrated players. Colangelo doesn’t have a good track record so this is alarming if you’re a 76ers fan.

You have to keep Okafor at all costs. Some "good" offers might pop out, Jahlil is a hot commodity. They will be tempting, but Colangelo has to keep his young core intact. The need for guards and a small forward are glaring, but trading your best player isn’t gonna fix the issue, it’ll make it worse.

I understand they have a logjam in their frontcourt. If anything, Noel and Saric are the ones that must go. Saric for not being commited to his team and Noel because again, you have a crowded frontcourt and Okafor is the better center prospect.

I don’t see Jahlil being all that much more then what Al Jefferson is, his game is antiquated, if I’m the Sixers he’s for sure on the trade block for the right suitor.

Difference here is, Al is a 6’9" ish, unathletic power forward that can’t shoot for lick. Okafor is a legit 7 feet tall and can shoot. That alone will allow Okafor to have a better career.

Okafor is 6’9.25" without shoes. Legit 7 feet in platform heels maybe.

Hes Al Jefferson plus half an inch of height. He does not have a better shot than Al Jeff.

In fact Id say Al Jeff is his very realistic comparison.

Tbh, I didn’t know Okafor was 6’10". I saw a pic of him next to Towns and Okafor looked taller.

KAT is actually shorter than Okafor and is on a Kevin Love level of height exaggerators.

            Still a boss player though.

Why a Cavs fan would even bother about the Sixers at this time.

Just saw an article about the 76ers front office willingness to trade one of their big men. If the Celtics offer the #3 and Bradley, then I’d take that deal. Otherwise, I’d keep him.

Bradley was all Defense 1st team. His offense improved a ton this year. He is to valuable to give up plus a 3rd pick.

What’s the obsession with Okafor. His game is old-school, and while he may become a valuable offensive weapon, his defense is unlikely to ever be good. He will need to master verticality like Hibbert did to become a rim protector, and his lack of foot speed will be punished in the pick and roll. Unless he becomes so good in the post that a top tier offense can be run through him he will never live up to his draft position, and getting someone at #3 this year would be better. I know people are over Hield, but he is custom made for where the game is going, while Okafor is not the generational talent to take the game back to its big man roots (that might in fact be Embiid if he gets and stays healthy)

That’s a far sight from being the fulcrum of a top tier offense. Im thinking more like how Steph is the basis of the Warriors or how Shaq anchored offenses. Okafor has yet to show he will ever be that good. Additionally, the changes in the game with legalised zone defenses has altered how effective post ups can be. Gone are the days of hard double teams and clear passing lanes. I remember an article that concerned Dwight’s post game development, and he made the comment that a lot of the moves that he learnt from Hakeem were not nearly as effective as they were for the Dream because he did not have the same amount of time to set them up before he was swarmed by defenders. Whatever you think of Howard, this is a fair comment, and suggests that being a good post player is no longer enough to anchor an offense.

okafor post moves were better than dwights were when he was in higschool. To say that he won’t live up to his draft position makes you seem biased and a hater. It’s one thing to critique and say his defense is bad but not many third picks come in averaging 18 points, stop it!

     1. Where did any Colangelo say that he was willing to trade Okafor, all I see are sources and ESPN people who are known for not being truthful.

    2. Of course a really bad team should be open to trading anyone.

    3. Saric was not a problem for the 76ers, players like Bird, Stojakovic and Ilgauskas didn’t join their team right away.

    4. Colangelo said every team needs a balance of youth and veterans, and that is true.

    5. How can center be hard to fill when the 76ers have three players for that spot?

    6. What Brent said above.

"How can center be hard to fill when the 76ers have three players for that spot?". Well, one of them hasn’t hit the court yet because of injuries and may never be able to reach his ceiling because of it. Noel and Okafor are basically the two centers they can count on right now.

Also…is it weird that theres only 23 days until the draft and Ben Simmons hasnt worked out with the 76ers yet?

In fact..hes chilling in Cleveland watching Cavs games which would seem a lower priority.

    Unless…..

Jah has become somehow after a completely dominating rookie season underrated after putting up historic rookie big men numbers.  Also being younger then Towns and Kristaps means he has time to still grow.  Comparibg him to Al Jefferson will look as ridiculous as comparing Melo to Glen Robinson.  He was already more efficient in one on ones then Cousins per nba.com numbers.  He shot 51% despite over half of his shots being un assisted.  Hes not slow by any means and is arguably the best ball handling big man since Hakeem.  And he also flashed range out to the 3 point line.

I agree with everything stated above minus Okafor shooting threes. I think the sixers need to package and send out is Noel. Okafor was dominant and didnt get any spoon fed dunks like a lot of the bigs do now a days playing with great point guards.

Colangelo is Not a moron………. If they get say Marcus Smart & the #3 pick & take Jamal Murray (where he could just score & let Smart D-Up the other PG)……….

& you got 6’10” Saric – who PJ Carlisimo says is a Passing Porzingus lite………. Ben Simmons – muscle Bound, Rim Rockin, Court Vision all day…..

And 7’2” Monster – Shot Blockin, 3 Point Shootin, Dunkin on Anyone & Everyone in the League Joel Embiid…….

That is a Scary young Line Up………. I like Okafor & Noel – but Embiid Eats them both for Lunch like it’s Nothing……..
