Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIn years past, we’ve seen great players in their prime and great players blow up.. Now, in the game TODAY, who do you compare these legends to?
Tracy McGrady – I like to think Kevin Durant is like T-Mac, although I believe T-Mac was more athletic and sometimes more tenacious.
Allen Iverson – The only player I see even close to AI has gotta be Monta Ellis.
What about these?
Steve Francis
Chris Webber
Jason Kidd
Doug Christie

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantOk, he’s not a legend, but he was one of the better defenders of his time, scrappy and would talk trash

mattholdenbrownParticipanti agree with rondo kidd but in no way is monta ellis like the great allen iverson in any aspect of the game. the things the answer did in 2001 were probabaly my greatest memory (im 15) of a player especially his height) ive ever seen

Im Your FatherParticipantEllis isn’t even close to being as good as Iverson but he does have a slightly similar style of game. It’s not an awful comparison.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI’m not saying Ellis is as good as Iverson whatsoever. Iverson was on a completely different level. But I’m saying Ellis’ game style is the closest we’ve got to Iverson.

mikeyvthedonParticipantTracy McGrady – Kevin Durant is the closest thing to T-Mac in his prime. But KD seems to be even more efficient and while he is not as athletic as Tracy, he is longer than even T-Mac was and he has a much more reliable outside game. But production is somewhat similar, though T-Mac probably had greater assist numbers as well.
Allen Iverson – Monta Ellis is the closest player to Iverson as far as style/size. I guess these comparisons are more based on strengths and production, but Monta is also the closest there.
What about these?
Steve Francis – Russell Westbrook is very similar to Steve Francis as far as production, though I think there games were not overly similar.
Chris Webber – Pau Gasol would be the closest thing, though again, different games, but similar vision. Not to mention Pau won a couple titles.
Jason Kidd – Rajon Rondo would be the obvious comparison. Great defense, numbers all across the board, shaky jump shot. Kidd was never as poor a FT shooter and gained accuracy as time went on, but he never could drive the lane like Rondo and was never a high percentage shooter from the field. Also, that ring thing.
Doug Christie – Anthony Parker, very similar role for his team that Christie played for his, with a focus on defense as well. Matt Barnes like YoungSplash said, is also a good comparison.
These are probably the closest comparisons to these players, though I think you look at most of the current guys and see potential to be even better, save possibly Monta Ellis and Iverson.
