The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement in principle to trade guard Quentin Richardson the Minnesota Timberwolves for Sebastian Telfair, Mark Madsen and Craig Smith, leagues sources said Monday.

The trade is expected to be finalized later Monday. The Clippers had previously been in negotiations with free agent guards Ramon Sessions and Allen Iverson.

I kind of feel bad for Q man. He has been thrown around more than that easy girl you graduated with during seinor beach week.

    Excellent deal for both teams.

LAC adds a backup PG in Telfair and depth inside with MAD DOG! and Smith

    Minny adds a 3pt shooter.

Are you saying Rubio is on his way to the NBA now?

No, still needs to get that buyout worked out..

But I dont think Kahn would have done this if he knew he wasnt going to get Rubio out of his contract in spain..

Why would Kahn trade his only PG worth value(that isnt a rookie), he has to know Rubios coming..

Kahn cant be THAT stupid?…but this is the game guy that drafted 2 point guards, back to back, in the lottery…

Who is left that could try to play behind Flynn if Rubio isnt comin?? And how far under the Cap are they after this trade?

    Without Rubio, Minnesotas PGs are:

    Jonny Flynn
    Bobby Brown
    Kevin Ollie

Bobby Brown & Kevin Ollie arent worth shyt..honestly
so, unless they plan on playing Jonny Flynn 48 minutes a game,
    Kahn should pray for Rubio..

Didnt Ollie start some this year because they were pissed at Telfair?? Does anyone know about the Cap space they have. They could be targeting a big player in a trade or something if they have some room.

Why would Minnesota do that? Just stupid. It also takes Clippers out of the Sessions sweepstakes…bad trade.

He can handle 48 minutes if anyone remembers the game from the Big East Tournament.

Not sure I understand the trade, but again I’m not dumb enough to be a GM.

I wonder what the record is for being traded in one year.Quentin has already been traded 3 times if I am correct. NY…Memphis…Clippers…T-Wolves. Looking at that, I noticed that he has just bounced to all of the worst teams from last year. I’m predicting he’ll be in uniform with the Kings soon. Seriously, someone should buy him out and put him out of his misery.

Flynn played ONE game of 48 Minutes. No rookie can come in and play 48 minutes, 82 games in a season. Heck, the Top Talents might not be able to do that.

No player can do that for 82 games, nobody should expect a player to do that either.

Well I hope this means the Clippers want no part of Allen Iverson. This must also mean the T-Wolves had good results going over to Spain to work out Rubio’s buy out situation, and he will be in a Minnesota uniform next season.

I’m surprised no one got that I was joking about Flynn playing all 48 minutes. The most in the NBA every year is usually right under 40 minutes a game. If someone can play that many minutes every game they are a true iron man and I want their workout regimen.

When Minnesota drafted two point guards [actually three], I initially thought the GM was clueless. But as I pondered over the move, I thought for sure there was some kind of plan where they would trade Flynn for some very valuable players, thereby filling out the Minnesota roster. However, after reading about this trade, I’m once again beginning to think David Kahn is dumber than dirt.

Even if Rubio comes over from Spain, no one in his right mind would trust a team to a rookie point guard, let alone two rookie point guards. For anyone who wants to mention Derrick Rose, he was a major exception. It usually takes a point guard at least 2-3 years to learn the game.

Now you have a situation where two point guards will be learning the game and simulatenously competing against each other. It’s a situation fraught with peril and David Kahn will have to accept responsibility.

In addition, when you have the 5th and 6th choices in the draft, that means you have a golden opportunity to shore up 2 different positions on a very weak team. Think about it, you could fill up 40% of your starting five with a couple of smart draft choices. Instead, Minnesota only filled up 20% and that will be the subject of a further split between two rookies.

Good trade for the Clippers, BUT… A head scratcher for the T-Wolves.

The Clippers acquire a cheap back-up point guard in Telfair. He played well last season and should be a dependable backup to Baron Davis. I think this puts the Allen Iverson and Ramone Sessions rumors to rest. Now the Clippers don’t have to rely on Mike Taylor as their 2nd string point guard because he clearly isn’t a rotation point guard yet. If it doesn’t work out with Telfair, no big deal. As the article said, Telfair only has a player option for 2010-11 at a modest $2.7 million.

The Clippers also needed another backup 4 man due to the departure of Brian Skinner. I think Smith is a major upgrade over Skinner and he’s also in the final year of his deal. He’ll be a consistent backup behind Blake Griffin. I have a strange feeling that either Kaman or Camby could be dealt soon because I’m sure the Clippers want DeAndre Jordan in the regular rotation at center.

    Mark Madsen… NO COMMENT.

Now… The T-Wolves… WHAT ARE THEY DOING? Why did they trade their only veternan point guard? I just don’t get it. Even IF they do get Rubio over here, does Kahn really plan on starting Rubio considering how young and physically immature he is? I’m seriously starting to think that Kahn has NO IDEA what he’s doing lol. You have the best basketball minds in the NBA trying to figure out what he’s doing and not even they can figure it out, so that means… Either Kahn is a genius or nuttier than a bag of walnuts.
