Ghost01Participant2012 Draft. They have Minny’s pick. I never knew this. If they get a guy like Rivers, Miller, or Gilchrist, and they turn out to be as advertised (obviously long down the road, but im just speaking hypothetically), or any other top 3 pick for that matter, and combine them with Blake and Gordon, they could be the best team in LA in the not too distant future.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantWhat if he goes Harrison Barnes next year…I think the Clippers should look to this draft and free agency to begin the upward climb to respectability…if they can get a good small Sg/sf prospect like Barnes in the 2011 draft and then see where they stand in 2012…I keep laughing at the thought of people thinking Gordon and Griffin are going to be Clippers past their rookie deals.:.its a fantasy…

mikeyvthedonParticipantThese are trades that can come back and haunt franchises. The Timberwolves better improve big time next year, and honestly, they could be forced to trade Rubio to do so. If I were David Kahn, I would be dreading this moment and thinking of something to do. I mean, I know it did not exactly kill the Grizzlies with that Otis Thorpe for Darko deal (though I am sure the Grizz were kicking themselves at the time), but these types of trades have really helped NBA teams. Honestly Scarecrow, I would think that both Blake and Eric Gordon would peace out as well, but if the Timberwolves give that team another lotto pick, than I think that is huge motivation to stay.
That is until Donald Sterling trades the pick to Pat Riley for a couple packages of Double Stuffed Oreos.

Afactor4ParticipantWe don’t really need anyone else to be honest. Bledsoe will likely replace Baron in a year or two and be a Tony Parker style PG. Aminu, at worst, will be a very upscale dual specialist role playing starter. I’m not sure where I see a role for another rookie PG or whoever, unless of course one of those guys (Gilchrist, Rivers,etc) has a Durant style freshman season in college, then we’d have to select them.

Quincey HodgesBlah blah blah. Through the history they have gotten soooooooo many draft picks and have looked good on paper. It probably wont be in my life time that they are ever the best team in L.A. They arent no where near close to that happening. They are still a game behind where they were last year

Dude, take all the help you can get! You may have a few good young players and prospects, but you never have enough depth. Not every player drafted is necessarily a starter, and even if Bledsoe and Aminu both start, odds are their may be better starters on other teams in the league. That is why you build a strong second unit for counter attack and to play against different style teams. Your team looks like it has a possible bright future, but they are not fine as is and getting this pick would be incredibly huge. Just thought you should know this, you are a Clippers fan and having this sort of confidence in your team is not healthy. You should be saying “THANK YOU KEVIN MCHALE!” Not, “Na, we’re good.” Odds are, if the pick is top 5, the player could be, gasp, better than DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe or Al-Farouq Aminu. Having any of those guys coming off the bench might be better for the team than having them start. Man, I guess you Clippers fans aren’t used to knowing what it takes to build a good team so you make these kind of outrageous statements, lol.

SwatLakeCityParticipantThe two biggest needs that I see for the Clippers are Point Guard to replace Baron and Small Forward. Bledsoe could do it (replace Baron), but that’s still kind of iffy. He played great when Baron was hurt, and then after Baron returned he still played great but it did not result in wins. (Clippers didn’t start winning games or even playing better until Baron started) That to me is the most important thing especially if you are trying to go from a loosing team to a winning team and hopefully relevant enough to be mentioned with the Lakers and the rest of the Western conference. If you don’t win this isn’t gonna happen. That’s gonna take sometime for Bledsoe to do because he is not an allstar great point guard…yet, and he might not even become one in the future! So I would not trust him to run your team at least until he proves that he can win games for you. The best pg the Clippers could probably go for in this draft is Brandon Knight(I’m expecting the Kings to select Irving beforehand with a top 3 pick.) He is kind of like Bledsoe, except I believe Bledsoe is a better passer so I don’t I would go for him either. The Clippers could probably live with Baron and Bledsoe for one more year before they completely hand the reigns to someone else. So I wouldn’t go for the point guard until 2012 when you can select someone like Rivers. This year I’d fill up that SF spot. Aminu is good but we all knew that he was raw coming in, so he probably still won’t be ready to start next year, so this year I’d go for Terrance Jones, Kawhi Leonard, Tyler Honeycutt, Kyle Singler or Jordan Hamilton and then next year go for Austin Rivers or someone like him. PG is more important that SF so its better to wait and go for the better point guard then settle for second best this year.

Forte IVParticipantwe are one legit small forward away from being a solid playoff team. Del Negro and Olehsky(sp?) have said they’d only trade Kaman(who’s only played 10 games) for a legit sf. Baron is finally playing good basketball as well.

Afactor4ParticipantRegarding today’s loss, that was a ridiculous ending to what was otherwise a good game by the clippers other than the atlanta 21-4 run in the 3rd quarter. The refs made two really controversial decisions, that I thought were inaccurate. But on to the topic at hand.
Why would we need a top 5 pick when we’ve already got 2 players that command a huge amount of touches and will for a long time? We’d be better off packaging that pick, one of the rooks, and maybe Baron/Kaman for a superstar. Of course, like I said, if people project the draft to be as strong as 2003 or the Oden draft, and we end up with a top 2 pick, then we’d obviously be better off.
For now though, there’s no need to think about Austin Rivers, Michael Gilchrist, Quincy Miller, etc. Why would we? All the pieces are in place and you obviously haven’t seen enough of the team to comment on their future if you think Aminu and Bledsoe aren’t future starters. Bledsoe especially seems like the PERFECT point guard to play in our faster paced system, that will likely continue as long as Blake’s on the team.

Where do you see a top 5 pick that’s NOT a Oden/James/Rose style prospect fitting in with a bunch of these guys, especially when their all 2 years older and 2 years more experienced. Keep in mind, guys like Bledsoe are not the type of players that demand touches on the floor like Gordon or Blake, who will take majority of the shots, something I’m completely fine with. You need role players to compliment stars, these guys all look they could be great ones.

BigDParticipantThat Portland squad was also meant to be a championship contender, and Wesley Matthews was an unexpected relief for the Roy absense. However, Bledsoe won’t be much more than a great backup on a contending team, he isn’t a starting PG that the Clippers will need. Aminu i don’t know how he will turnout, but i think you could go better for the immediate future, Iggy? Right now Gomes is starting and you can get a lot more production and defense from the position.
They need as much talent as they can pick up, a legit starting PG to replace Baron Davis, Irving would be a great fit with the top 5 pick. and they need a upgrade at the SF, Aminu could be the 6th man spending time at the SF/PF spots, Iggy if they trade for him can play the SG at times, and he is a playmaker, give him the ball as your point forward.

I laugh so hard at this, because you are the moron who is always talking about how in 2 years the T wolves are gonna win 60 games. I am not talking about next year. i was talking about how in 2012 if they get a top player in that draft, they would have a great young nucleaus. You changed your name (again) and you still are a fool. The Lakers arent great anymore….get over yourself. They havent won a big game all year. Why should anyone believe they arent headed downhill. Gasol has been bad lately and Kobe blackholing it to the max isnt going to win them a ring.

Blake and Gordon are gonna be there for another 5 seasons and once Davis contract is up, it’s gonna be Bledsoe-Gordon-Aminu and Blake as your 4.
