i’m jus so offendedParticipantAs an Illini fan, I had started standing up and screaming for joy and then looked back and saw the KU hat and was like "wait, what?!" Cliff s*** all over my heart. I’m still in shock.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantYeah that was not cool. He’s just a kid and I wish him all the best but playing with fans like that is not the best move

lisergxParticipantYea that was a real low blow on his part, he didn’t need to do that, but Stanley Johnson to Arizona!!! He was really energetic and creative with his decision.

SiggyParticipantSucks for the Illini but I expected this.
I wonder if Cliff committing to KU would prevent them from getting Myles Turner. They’re supposedly in the lead for him too. I think they can actually play together since Turner has a solid jumpshot. The determining factor could be whether Embiid declares.
I’d actually like to see Myles join Mudiay at SMU

PaulsJayhawksParticipantI’m happy he picked Ku, great school for big men. I am not impressed with the hat stunt. I get kids are kids but coaches put in a lot of time, relationships are built that’s not fair to the Illini coaching staff.

Lotto StudParticipantI don’t see the big deal about grabbing the other hat. It’s not the first time it has been done, if you follow the HS Football Under Armour & U.S. Army All American Game you see kids do it year in and out. The only issue on hand may be the fact that he "teased" the fans but it happens. Trust and believe that’s not the last time you’ll see it done.

Ghost01ParticipantThe whole Cliff thing just reinforced how stupid this whole process is and how so many grown men being invested on how a 17 year old grabs a hat has been blown out of proportion.
Was it a dick move? sure it was. If I was an Illini fan, would I be disappointed? Yes. But all these columnists and sports writers coming out of the woodwork and talking about how big of a deal it is and how disgraceful it was have to be the biggest losers on the planet. Really? A 17 year old faked you guys out for 1.5 seconds, so your life and his life aren’t the same? C’mon. He picked KU over Illinois. That’s the bottomline. Guys have clowned around out there before. This has nothing to do with his future, his life, or really have any importance on him going forward.
No one ever remembers this crap, but when it happens they want to act like it means something.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantSeeing him in the few highlights and interview process, I can’t imagine recruiting a better person. The hat thing, since nobody could tell, was a mistake because he was so caught up in the moment. I wish Kentucky had gotten him because there couldn’t be a better role model for young ball players.
