Cleveland trades Christian Eyenga and Ryan Hollins along with the #4 pick in the 2011 draft to Memphis for Rudy Gay.  Cleveland also uses their trade exception to complete the trade.

This trade would allow Cleveland to take Kyrie Irving and pair him up with the athletic Rudy Gay and Irving could create easier shots for guys like Hickson and Varejao.

Memphis on the other hand could use the #4 pick to draft Kanter as a replacement for Gasol and sign a free agent small forward like Jeff Green or keep Gasol and draft a guy like Vesely.  The trade would give both teams the necessary tools to help build their teams up in the right direction.

interesting idea, i can see how it benifits both teams. Even tho all I have heard from Memphis is that they are not trading Gay.

I’m not sure why everyone thinks just because Memphis did good without Gay in the playoffs means there trading him. The owner of the Grizzlies has said multiple times that they were keeping Gay.  Also they would be much better with Gay than anyone they could pick at #4.

Memphis, like the 28 other NBA teams in the league (besides NY) is trying to save money. They cannot keep Gasol since they threw their money at Conley, Gay, and Randolph.  I personally think they need Gasol more than Gay to continue to win in the post season. They could find another athletic wing in the draft or in free agency.

I expect Memphgis to Throw money at Gasol because he has a couple things going for him. He played very well in the Playoffs. He is a skilled big man. He is as much as Zack randolph why this team did not suck. memphis will give him money because of this and to be honest he deserves it there are not that many skilled seven footers out there.
