I know they put all their eggs in one basket with Lebron but I actually think this time around they have some solid young pieces entering their rebuild. Sexton, Osman and Zizic all have considerably high upside. Nance is also a good role young role player.

Osman and Zizic both were neglected last year and deserved much more oppurtunity. These guys are seasoned pros and summer league is a joke to them. I think both players should be starting for Cleveland despite who they have on big contracts.

All the vets are on 2 years.

They have to get rid of JR Smith. I dont care if you trade him, buy him out or stretch him he needs to go. The minutes and or spot on the bench/in the locker room is too valuable to give to a guy that obviously is not a part of your future and is not a guy you want as a leader in your locker room.

They should also trade Love to the highest bidder before he gets injured and has no value. His value is proabably already low to be honest but if you can get a 1st round pick and cap relief or an expiring contract take it right away.

Clarkson can stay. See if you can get him scoring 20 ppg and then trade him for a 1st round pick.

Hill, Thompson and Korver should stay. All these guys have been a part of rebuilding/tanking teams but also championship calibur teams. They are getting overpaid but should be good vets for the short term of this long term rebuild.

JR Smith’s contract isn’t guaranteed next year so they can easily waive him if they have to, same goes for George Hill. LeCedi and Zizic should definitely start by Ty Lue is planning on a 3-guard lineup next season so who knows. If healthy, Love could put up 20-10 again much like the old days so I wouldn’t trade him just yet. All in all, they’re stuck with TT and Clarkson but at least they have youth this time around.

Wait til trade deadline on love. Being the focal point of the offense could rise his stock

If they can keep Love and Hood they could compete for a 8th seed

I dont think so. The East lost some strength with Lebron headed out West but remember that doesnt apply to Cleveland. The East didnt get easier because Lebron headed out West the rest of the conference is the same or better then last year.

Everyone saying they can compete in the Eastern conference this year because its weaker forgets its only weaker to the other teams that were competing with and gameplanning for Lebron. Clevelands gonna have a hell of a time facing the rest of the conference without him.

All my hopes would be on Sexton and trading Love. I agree he should be the focal part of the offense, up his value, and be a trade chip. Today he gets you a 1st rounder, by the all-star break, maybe he gets you 2.

The future is bleak Cavs fans. Embrace the lotto. LeBron and Kyrie turned into Nance, Sexton and Clarkson. Be real about it, thats a horror show.

It’s going to be a tough transition, but could have been worse.

They´ll still have to wait to have a franchise player, Sexton is a nice piece especially because of his attitude and energy which are always wellcome and are traits that do not abound, but to me he’s not close to being a franchise player and his game does not suit best for today’s game.

Cedi Osman is one of their best news, he’s pretty talented and looks like a Mike Miller type of player.

Zizic is another player that could be a big surprise for this franchise; this kid has some Jokic on him and with playing time he could end up being the best out of the young players they have.

Cavs should really try to trade K.Love, as you don’t want to be the next Hornets, a team that is neither the best or the worse and is unable to rebuild. I think there are some teams out there that want to compete right away but really need an extra punch like Love.

Teams like Lakers, Sixers (if they don’t get Leonard), Dallas and even Phoenix could be interesting markets to shop. It would be great if Cavs could grab someone like Kuzma, Saric or M.Bridges along with a bad contract to make it happen. May be even Cavs and Minnesota could re-do the Love-Wiggins trade…

They should also get rid of Clarkson, Hill and JR Smith for expiring contract and picks. Sexton and Osman will not develope well playing next to any of those players , especially with Clarkson.

Then next season they should just let their young players develope, while losing many games to grab a top5 in next draft.

Unfortuantely, Cedi reminds me more of Andres Nocioni than Mike Miller. He’s nowhere near as fluid and effortless as Mike Miller was in his prime. Nocioni was a useful player, gritty, and could make shots, topped out around 14 ppg on 47 percent from the field, which I think is an appropriate expectation for Cedi.

I`m not sure we’re talking about the same player..i mean Nocioni really?

I think you’ve not watched Osman play much, because when he plays for his national team he plays as a point-forward, as the main creator for the rest of the team, and he actually looks pretty fluid. That’s also the role he’s playing for the Cavs in summer league and the role he’ll have during the season.

        just in case:

        . with Turkey: http://www.youtube.com/watch

        . summer league: http://www.youtube.com/watch

Like you say, Nocioni was a warrior, a tough player able to hit shots, but was absolutely unable to create for others or to run a play.

I watched Miller play since his college days, and although he was good with the ball in his hands its not like he was a magician..during his short prime he averaged around 15pts/5rb/3ast/2 3P something that Cedi could very well do while being one of the main ball-handlers.

Granted, my observations were based on Cedi’s game last year with the Cavs, playing with LeBron, so I stand by the Nocioni comparison in that context.

If given a different role as more of a playmaker — if indeed that will be the case — then I’m open to amending my take.

Reminds me of John Salmons when he was in his prime. Cedi has a chance to be much better though. Salmons was a guy who was good at everything and really had no weaknesses. His best years were plagued with injuries then he got a big contract from Kings went to that horrid Sacramento franchise and fell off the map.

In a weakened Eastern Conf, the Cavs are going to go with the youth movement (Cedi, Sexton, Nance, Clarkson etc) and still be a playoff team. They’ll abandon the iso ball philosphy, play at a faster pace, defend, and run a more movement based offense.

At the break, people will be writing stories about "Did LeBron’s dominance hold back the Cavs players?", it’ll be in the A block on PTI, and there will be think pieces written about whether LBJ going to the Lakers was actually a good thing for the Cavs franchise.

Koby Altman says he wants to stay competitive in the East, but why bother playing for a 7-seed? I think he’s delusional. I think he thinks he has seasoned NBA veterans, and he’s not realizing how extreme their talent deficiency is.

If they go with this lineup, I think they will have one of the bottom 2-3 records in the league and will wind up blowing it all up before the trade deadline anyway:

    G. Hill / Sexton
    JR Smith / Clarkson
Osman / Treveon Graham (I have a feeling Kings make him an offer that Cavs don’t match)
    Love / Nance
    Thompson / Zizic

I said prior to and after the draft that I wanted Kevin Knox, to become a piece to build around. I think Sexton is Terry Rozier, who I like a lot, but not as a centerpiece. I think they’ll regret not taking Knox.

There are a number of young players in the NBA that I’d like to see them target, although some of them I doubt would made available, as they don’t all play for contenders:

    Luke Kennard
    Harry Giles
    Juancho Hernangomez
    Cheick Diallo
    Semi Ojeleye

I don’t think the Cavs will be bad enough to land RJ Barrett, but Romeo Langford is a guy I would absolutely love to see become the future featured player in my hometown!

Sexton, Clarkson, Hood, Osman, and Zizic is a solid young core. Aside from Clarkson’s contract that is a great start to a rebuild. And again, Clarkson has the ability to make the money he makes worth it. The reason Clarkson and Hood (and Love lol) struggled with the Cavs is because LeBron’s ball-dominance and lack of ability to play off the ball makes it tough for a lot of players to use their strengths. Clarkson and Hood need the ball in their hands too so they can do what their good at so now that LeBron is gone I’m sure we’ll see some Clarkson and Hood we saw on the Lakers and Jazz.

There is no way the Cavs are a playoff team, and I’m glad they aren’t. The last thing Cleveland wants is to be a middle of the road 7-8 seed high lottery team. The sole purpose of next season (or 2 or 3) is to see what young talent they want to keep going forward. They need to “trust the process” and hopefully hit on a couple top 5 picks that can be cornerstones.

Trade Love for picks. With Love they might still be tolerable and not get a top 5 pick.

I like Sexton. I see him being a Kemba like player in a few years. Then hopefully they hit in the lottery the next few years.

I remember the first time LeBron left people thought that team would make the playoffs the next year. What a dumpster fire that was.

Also Cleveland lets cover that hideous building with another mural. I’m not sure with what…maybe a picture of fans in the streets from the parade.
