After watching the Wichita/UK game, I’m going on record to say Cleanthony Early should be a lock for the 1st Round.  I would seriously take him before Jerami Grant, Dario Saric, and Kyle Anderson.

Cleanthony Early is a beast. That guy is always at the right place at the right time.  Shooting precentages are impressive so far. He gets buckets when his team needs them.

The key for Early would be going to a team with an offensive system and a fastbreak. He would be a perfect fit for many NBA teams. San Antonio,Toronto,  Philly, Chicago. Go

This is the first Wichita State game I have watched this year and Early has looked great. He has looked very impressive and looks like an NBA player out there. This has been a great game to watch.

Going to a team that runs alot of iso woukd not benifit him. A strong defensive team the gets out on the break on defensive stops woulr really be great for him.

Yea I am watching this game right now and I am impressed. I can see him in the nba, hes doing well on Randle down low too when he is on him. He is listed at 6-8, 220, defends well and can shoot. Whats not to like about this guy. He has 27 with 4 minutes left in the game.

What’s the main difference between a guy like Hood, compared to Early.

I think Early can switch over to a stretch 4 in the league, can’t see that out of Hood.

I saw the same footwork that melo uses. The difference between Early and Hood is that Early is able to guard 3s and 4s.

The guy really stood out. I was rooting for Kentucky and he played really well. The jab step he had to free space up for a 3 late in the game really impressed.

He’s been great the entire season. He played well even if the team was eliminated. He deserves 1st round looks!

Rodney Hood wet the bed against MERCER of all teams. Early beasted against a lottery pick today. Other than the name in front of the jersey I dont see where Hood is better.

It was just one game.  Hood has been pretty consistent all season against much much better competition than Early has seen.

I would also say that Hood is probably the better shooter between the two, but other than that I think you are right about the name on the front of the jersey having something to do about it.  I don’t think the gap between them is as far as where the positions they are drafted will most likely insinuate.

i’m also very impressed with early and i think he can be very good at next level but i wouldn’t take him over saric.. have you seen saric play this year? he’s averaging 13pts/8rb/3ast in eurocup wich is a way better competition than what early has played during the year. plus saric is 19 years old and 6’10 without shoes.. i actually think that if saric is not a top 10 he’ll be a steal..

he’s going to be 23…  I think a lot of GM’s will see his lack of upside and that’s why they will pick Hood over him.  I’m a Duke fan and I don’t think Hood is that good of a prospect…

He doesn’t have alot of potential at 23, but when you draft him he’ll be able to contribute to a contender right away.

Another good thing about his game today – did it against potential NBA talent.

People can question his overall opponents this year, but he picked the right game to go off. A shame WSU had to play such a good team that early. The tourney committee screwed them IMO. I know they had a questionable schedule but don’t give them a 1 if you honestly don’t think they are worth it. Swap them with Nova, KU, Wisconsin, or Michigan, and Id bet they are still alive.

And in what world is UK a 8 seed and Umass a 6?

The thing about age is… The good teams are looking for help.

Once they pick, the 19 year olds in the conversation are usually high upside, LOW floor projects. Some good teams will just want a guy that will come on their team and help immediately. Guys like Early and Payne will do that.

It bothers me when people use age as a limiting factor to "upside". Its like people think you just stop getting better at age 22. Do people remember when EVERYONE came in the league at 22 years old???? They got better. MJ came in the league at 21, did he get better?

Taj Gibson was 25 years old when he came in the league and he is still improving. People just pick and choose when they wanna pull that argument out of their asses. Bottom line, if you like a player, you pick him.

cant believe how fast this kid is getting overrated. thta was the best game of his life, that was not the norm.

his season stats werent overwhelming for a 23 year old who plays in a weak conference. theres still question marks on whats his true position. he seemed to be able to play the 3 last game, but most of his two year career has been spent playing the 4.

he’s not a lights out shooter and his handling needs work. he was a 2nd round prospect before the game, that game gave him a boost and with the combine coming up and team workouts ahead, he can possibly work his way to the bottom of the 1st. No way is this kid a lottery pick, he wont be one.

Anyone else starting to see some Kwahi Leonard in Early?

They’re always in the right place both offensively and defensively. Both are more than comfortable going to the offensive glass if they aren’t getting touches. Both can guard multiple positions (2-4). Both are great spot up shooters.
