Big Lakers fan here, and so I’m curious as to your views on what the Lakers could receive in return for these young, developing players and potential stars.  Clarkson, 2nd year, over 15 ppg, which I think, is second only to Wiggins for sophomores.  Randle, who is really a rookie, is averaging a double-double in limited minutes.  I am sure he will develop a decent jumper and some counter post moves allowing his offensive game to take off.

The thing is for me, that Randle and Clarkson may not be the best fits on the team especially IF the Lakers get Simmons so what could the Lakers receive in return?

If you’re a Suns fan, would you trade Booker for Randle, or Booker & Warren for Randle and Clarkson, or Booker/Warren/Chandler for Randle, Clarkson, Hibbert?

Lakers get next Klay Thompson in Booker, a nice wing player in Warren, and a veteran big man, starter or backup in Chandler whose contact will be reasonable in the new cap era.

Suns get a young power forward in Randle, a great combo guard in Clarkson, and cap relief in Hibbert’s expiring contract.

Thoughts?  Other trades?  What’s their value?

Booker’s value is much higher than Clarkson and randle. Honestly Clarkson is just a decent player on a really bad team, that means most likely he wouldn’t be playing starting minutes on any other team. Randle has some upside to him but not near as much as booker. I think Booker could become one of the best shooters in the league as he gets older and more experienced. Also warren has a chance to become a good scorer in the league and he has shown flashes of that. If I was phoenix I would not take this trade offer.

Randle has way more upside then booker Randle averages a double double in what most would call his rookie season.

Why would the Lakers try and move Randle and/or Clarkson at this point?  The only way they would do that is if they believe they would be getting stars this offseason in free agency.

I would think they’d be trying to trade Russell moreso than the other two.  But personally, I don’t know why they would want to unload their young talent at this point.

I agree with gopack10, the only moves the Lakers need to be making, is to get expiring contracts to be able to target big names and pay them more then any other team they also need to get as many draft pick they can get first or second round

I’m not a fan of the 2 for 1 trades that are proposed in regards to the Lakers.  Sure, Booker might be the best player in the above deal.. (though I consider it close between him and Randle).  But Lakers are so void of rotational talent that I don’t think any 2 for 1 trade… minus some obvious ones, does a great deal of good for them.  They simply need to stay the course, and keep acquiring assets until they pan out, or they can be moved.  This is the way the league works now.

I don’t see the need to move Randle or Clarkson.  However I would be all for moving Lou Will, Bass and obviously Nick Young… but nobody would have him.  Sweet Lou and Bass are the only pieces that anybody else would even consider touching.  I would move them today… and I wouldn’t be picky.  I would move them for just about anything.

I would consider moving Clarkson before the deadline as well, but he will be hard to get true value for due to his low contract.  He’s going to get a pay raise this off season.  I am a fan of his, but there will be a lot of teams with a lot of money, I expect him to get somewhere around 10 mil a season.

Now when it comes to Russell vs Clarkson, which seems to be a more common discussion amongst Laker fans it’s a no brainer to me.  Russell is the guy I’d keep.  He is only 19, doing things that very few 19 year olds have ever done… some things that no 19 year olds have done in the league.  His PER 36 numbers are exceptional for a 19 year old.  He’s not an isolation player (which I love).  The ball doesn’t stick.  He can pretty much play with anybody, whether it be a 1 or a 2.  His on ball defense is much better than those who have never watched him (T Rex) give him credit for.  He lags in the off ball stuff but that comes with experience.  By this time next year, I think he’s head and shoulders a better player than Clarkson especially when you consider the fact Clarkson will be 24, and Russell will be 20.

If you have to move 1 it’s Clarkson.  You struck gold with the 46th pick so it wouldn’t be wrong to cash in on him.  Though there isn’t really any pressing need to do so.

Who gives a shit about Jim Busses self imposed timeline.  I’ll admit, the guy can draft late picks well.  But if speeding up the rebuild is on account of him trying to save his job fuck him.  Stay the course and rebuild this ish properly.

Unless an absolute godfather offer is on the table there is no way the Lakers should even be entertaining the idea of moving Russell Clarkson or randle right now. Keep the young core together and get them as many mins as possible for the rest of the year. Once you see where you end up in the draft and how things pan out in free agency then you can start worrying about how the team fits together but right now those are unknown variables and you don’t trade away your best young assets when the future is so uncertain.

I have heard on 2 sites that D Russell has demanded a trade. Is this possibly true?

    Randle reminds me of Tisdale.

I will give you a thumbs up for that!

Btw, didn’t quite expect the avalanche of negs for what I thought was a decent question posed to this forum, not some proclamation by me, just curious as to thinking out there.  Thank you.
