“With trade speculation swirling around him, Chris Paul said Wednesday that he’s open to a trade if the New Orleans Hornets aren’t committed to winning championships.
“My first choice is to be in New Orleans,” Paul said in a telephone interview from London. “I just want to make sure we’re committed to winning. If we’re not committed to winning and trying to get better so we can contend with the Lakers, the Celtics and all these other top teams, then I’m open to being traded.”
Reports that clubs have been making offers for Paul surfaced earlier this week. Hornets general manager Jeff Bower denied that the club was shopping its three-time All-Star point guard, but admitted to having dialogue with other teams concerning “all of our players.” New Hornets coach Monty Williams said he expects Paul to remain in New Orleans.”
Thoughts?

FDAPOJust saw this….
I really hope Chris Paul gets traded. I don’t see the Hornets going anywhere. Paul is a lot of teams missing piece for a NBA title.

Rose2No.1ParticipantAS TALENTED AS THIS NEGRO CHRIS IS, N.O. WAS NEVER THE PLACE FOR HIM, PERIOD, HE’S JUST TALENTED ENOUGH TO MAKE HIMSELF FIT THE OFFENSE BUT HE HAS WAY TOO MUCH OF A SCORING LOAD ON HIS SHOULDGERS FOR A 6’0″ PG. AND LET’S NO FORGET, COLLISON PISSED WHILE PAUL WAS INJURED AND WHEN HE CAME BACK, INEVITABLY GETTING PAUL BENCHED!!! HE COST LESS MONEY THAN PAUL AND IS HIGH CAPABLE OF POSTING ALMOST THE EXACT SAME NUMBERS AS HIM, TRADE PAUL BECASUE HE HAS MORE VALUE IN A 2K10 MARKET WHERE MAAAAAD TEAMS ARE LOOKING TO GET BETTER…PAUL IS A PEACE, NOT THE PIECE LIKE LEBRON OR OR DWIGHT..AND THAT’S THE MISTAKE EVERYONE MAKES. THIS DUDE IS NOT AI, HE WANTS TO PASS FIRST, AND TO NICE ASS NIGGAS AT THAT..NOT OK ONES LIKE d. WEST AND pEJA HAHAHAHAHA GET REAL

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMakes sense.
He wants to remain in New Orleans but he’s saying he could be looked to a move. The Hornets need to move Darren Collison with a exp contract to get under the cap and lux tax so they could look to rebuild to add some talent around CP3
They were one win away from going to the WCF with Tyson Chandler, Chris Paul and David West as your main 3? I think adding some better players next to West and Paul could spell success for NO in 2010.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMonty Williams should ask out of his contract if Paul is traded… Seriously… The Hornets aren’t good now, which means they’ll be awful without Paul.
And in today’s NBA… Owners and GMs don’t show sympathy towards coaches with losing records.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI don’t know Butler.
You get back Devin Harris and the 3rd pick for CP3? I think that’s a start. I would tell NJ to throw in C.Lee to do it. Doing that, you have 2 lotto picks. Take Favors and Whiteside with the 3rd and 12th picks.
With that, you can also shop Collison, West, Posey and Okafor. Both have good value with the fact of teams who might miss in FA want to at least bring something in.
I think if NO wanted to rebuild, this is the offseason to do it. IMO

NYK2010ParticipantWhy would the Nets throw in Courtney Lee?
Harris and the 3rd pick is a great move for the Hornets since Harris has a contract at half Paul’s deal.
The 3rd pick is a stud pick no need to trade the world for Paul he’s not Isiah Thomas or Magic Johnson.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:16am #338506
bkb77ParticipantHow bout D.Lee,Danio Galinari,Wilson Chandler,& tony douglas for CP3
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:16am #338507

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI wouldn’t do it unless Lee is in the deal IMO. You want CP3, you add players to that deal. NO already said No to Harris plus the 3rd. Up the Ante to get your target

dmo21ParticipantThe hornets would probably wanna throw some bad contracts with CP3 if they are gonna trade him and look for young pieces, picks, and expiring contracts. So here is my idea:
Hornets trade CP3, Posey and Mo Pete
Pacers trade Dunleavy, Ford, Rush, McRoberts, and 10th pickits a lot of people moving around but pacers get CP3 and the hornets get 2 big expiring contracts, 2 young players with potential and a top 10 pick.

malikballerParticipanthonestly if i were the nets i would pretty much give anything besides lopez for cp3…could you imagine cp3/lopez and a FA liek joe johnson or boozer or amare…OMG….that wud be ridicluous…the hornets almost went to the WCF with paul/west/chandler..imagine what they could do with those 3..

JazzinSLCParticipantThey will regret it forever. I know he is a bit injury prone (that’s my biggest concern about him moving forward) but along with Deron Williams (and maybe Wall) he is going to be the most dominant point guard in the league for the next decade. Plus he’s such an incredible leader, and all around talent. There is nobody after Wall and Turner in this draft that is worth giving up CP3 over. And why Harris, if you already have Collison? If your going to stay with two small guards keep Paul and Collison. That’s a far more deadly tandem then Harris and Collison (and it’s not that I dislike Harris, but I just don’t think he should be mentioned in the same breath as Paul).

Rose2No.1ParticipantOK THIS GUYS RETARDED, HARRIS IS A BONAFIDE *COMBO* GUARD IN THIS LEAGUE. THE FACT THAT HE HAS BE FORCED TO ONLY PLAY POINT IN NJ DOES NOT MEAN HE CANT BUST SOMEBODY’S ASS @ 2GUARD. IN DALLAD HE DID ALL THAT AND MORE VERY WELL, AND HIS FIRST YEAR IN JERSEY WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE HIM AN ALL-STAR FOR THE 09 WEEKEND, SEVERAL GAME WINNERS AND ADEQUETE ASSIT TO TURNOVER RATIO, MOVE HIM TO THE 2 IN N.O. AND HE’D BE THE NEXT MONTA ELLIS, LEARN BASKETBALL BITCHESS!!!!!!

You serious man? Did you see him numbers when he played?
Last season- 18-10
2008- Chris Paul had 22-11-5 with almost 3 steals.
Yea, he’s not worth Devin Harris, 3rd pick and Lee. No way..

NYK2010ParticipantHow bout D.Lee,Danio Galinari,Wilson Chandler,& tony douglas for CP3
This is a stupid trade.
Why give up 3 young players and a potential PF for your team for Paul.
Now the Knicks have Paul, Walker, Curry, and who else under contract they 2 2nd round picks.
Get a clue.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:42am #338533

PlatypusParticipantswitch Mcroberts with Hibbert and i think they could do it
Collison – Ford (expiring)
Rush – Thorton
George – Peja (expiring) / Dunleavey (expiring)
West – Patterson
Okafor – Hibbert0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 7:50am #338547
NYK2010ParticipantOh Knicksboy so what is Devon Harris now Chris Duhon give me a break.
How has Paul last time in the playoffs when Billups outplayed him.
Nets would be losing their PF of the future with the pick and SG.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/23/2010 - 8:07am #338566

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantDevin Harris is good but Not CP3.
How has Paul last time in the playoffs when Billups outplayed him. Alright, So you could have Billups. I’ll still take CP3
So Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and Courtney Lee all together then Chris Paul? Crazy world we live in today.

NYK2010ParticipantHow good does the Hornets future look with Harris, Collison, Courtney Lee, Julian Wright, Marcus Thornton along with the 3rd and 10th picks in the draft. They’ll also have Mo Pete, Peja, Songalia all expiring thats another 27 mill. gone after this year.
Too bad they traded Chandler for Okafor or else they would have another expiring big contract.0 - AuthorPosts
