The NCAA has finally cleared Diallo to play for the Jayhawks starting next week.  It’s frustrating how long the NCAA takes to clear some of these kids.  The article also mentions that Diallo received a "limited amount of extra benefits" and would have to miss the first five games.  Anybody know anything about that?

The NCAA has been embarrised by academic scandles and so they have taken this approach to every big time college athlete. It unfortunately going completely against what our country’s legal system is supposed to be designed for.

To paraphrase Jay Bilas, who explained it perfectly, it should not be the NCAA’s job to determine eligability. Each individual school had a system in place to determine who gets into their school and who doesn’t. Let each individual school do what they are designed to do; determine admittance for each and every college applicant, student and student athlete alike. The NCAA should focus wholly on enforcing NCAA bilaws for their leagues, not admittance into their leagues.

Kassoum Yakwe, the promising St John’s recruit, was also cleared. He also went to the same high school as Diallo (OSNA). He’s not draft relevant yet, but he’s got some great physical tools. Kinda reminds me of another Johnny, Sir’Dominic Pointer, as a freshman.
