I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantTop ranked big man Chase Jeter has decided that next year he will take his talents to Durham and join the Duke Blue Devils. Great pick up for Coach K and the Dukes as they get a quality big man to replace Okafor, who will seemingly leave after his freshman year and be a top 3 pick. What do you guys think of the pick? Does this end the stigma that has long surrounded Duke about their troubles landing and developing big men? Input is appreciated.

ph90702He should do well. He’ll have plenty of space to operate.

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantWhile I respect your opinion I’m going to have to disagree. I mean we’re talking about a kid who has lived in Stephen Zimmerman’s shadow his whole career, who is now threatening to be ranked higher than him. While he definitely needs to hit the gym, he’s shown a mean right handed jump hook, the willingness to bang down low on both ends, the ability to run the floor, and not to mention he doesn’t turn 17..17!..until November.

JoeWolf1I got my first look at him last night in that ugly Howard v Europe game. No one could finish, so I’ll take that with a grain of salt, but he’s got a nack for rebounding and is a good passer in the high post on give and go’s and around the bucket. He also showed signs of good footwork, some post moves and a baby hook.
That game was so damn ugly no one was even trying to take jumpers because I think they assumed they wouldn’t fall, so I don’t know what kind of shooter he is, but he’s got a lot of potential. He isn’t the most chiseled kid, and will need to add strength, but he probably hit about 11’4” on a blocked shot in the 2nd half. He has a nice athletic foundation, and I think he could probably carry 245 lbs pretty well in his early 20’s.
