Mr.Knick 32ParticipantLooking up info, this is what I found that was huge.
Charlotte went 31-10 last season at home.
Do we think they can repeat that and make the playoffs? I don’t think so because they have no legit PG nor a legit C. Thoughts

dmo21ParticipantI agree that it is doubtful that the Bobcats will make the playoffs. They lost their starting center and point guard from last year, and the guys that are replacing them are both down grades. Their key players, Jackson and Wallace, are getting old and are wreckless so injury and waring down might slow them down. Also, with the East getting better, I don’t see them competing with the top teams at all, or even the second tier teams that well. The won games due to defense last year, but with an old team that lost a shot blocker, i see their defense getting worse, unless Tyrus steps up. I see this team finishing in the 9-12 range, as they might slip in the playoffs..

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI don’t know, I need to see DJ Augustine play. He had a good season as a reserve in 08/09 but I need to see him lockdown the position.
Also, Mohammed, Diop and Brown. That’s the rotation at Center.
Plus, Wallace and Jackson play tough but that also causes them to miss games. Not like 20-30 games but like 8-15 and those count as well.

John-Bryant-54They were the best defensive team in the league last season but then again, they have Tyson Chandler, I think the 7th and 8ths spots are really up for grabs in the east.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt depends how Augistine AND Livingston play. Although at the same time they can easily make Jackson handle the rock just not gaurd PGs.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantEven though DJ Augustine has a few holes in his game..Augustine was playing pretty well his rookie year..Before Larry Brown shot down his confidence..And then screwed up by having him & Felton both starting in the backcourt..Even though i think he’s better suited as a backup right now..He’s going to average about 5 or 6 assists a game…He struggles to finish plays even though he is a great driver to the basket…He plays better in transition than halfcourt..
I think the key to Charlotte’s season is Boris Diaw,he struggled alot last season ….I see them winning about 40 games this year…

Mr. 19134ParticipantFor starters they have been playing extremely well in the preseason and they’re defense looks as good as ever.

IndianaBasketballParticipantDefense. Defense. Defense. YES… They’ll make the playoffs.
People seem to forget that they have Jackson and Wallace, both top ten at their position, still leading this team. Larry Brown is still coaching this team.
Augustine isn’t the pure point guard Felton is, but he’s a MUCH better shooter. With the way Jameer Nelson destroyed Felton in the playoffs last season, they didn’t want him back.
People picking the Nets and Wizards to beat out the Bobcats aren’t seeing clearly. The Wizards are as thin as cardboard in the frontcourt. The Nets didn’t get Melo, so I don’t know why anybody has them making the playoffs this season.

marcusfizer21ParticipantThe Nets have acquired some really solid players and IF guys like Brook Lopez and especially Devin Harris can stay healthy, there is this chance that they will make the playoffs… They had some really aggressive moves like Troy Murphy, Travis Outlaw and Anthony Morrow… Not to mention a raw rookie in Derrick Favors and with a head coach in Avery Johnson, they might make it… These guys have their specialty and they can help the Nets win games…

IndianaBasketballParticipantThere’s a chance, but not only would Devin Harris need to stay healthy (fat chance), he’d also need to return to All-Star form.
I think the Nets will be much improved, but playoffs? I don’t know… I can’t pick them over the Bobcats. Not this season.

HitsterParticipantIf Augustin can step up at PG then the Bobcats can get to around .500 again but with other Eastern teams having strengthened then they may not be as productive as last year. Also losing both Chandler and Ratliff is a big blow so unless Diop can find his 2005/06 form or Nazr has another good season then the C spot could be stretched. But with Diaw, Jackson and Wallace being very durable from SG to PF with Thomas giving them great energy from the bench they have a nice core there. Also Derrick Brown had a good preason and should see more minutes this year and Gerald Henderson could crack Larry Brown’s rotation.
Coach Brown will drill his teams on defence as always so you know they will be hard to beat but he turned 70 last month so he cannot stay on the sidelines forever and the Bobcats may have to look hard to mind such a solid coach in the future. But they can add pieces via the draft over the next few years and MJ will no doubt look to get a long term strategy for the team to be successful but stay within their budget.
