Sad. Just sad. The guy had an 11 year career. Total salary was $22 million. And that is just salary, he always had a shoe contract and other endorsements and he is still famous enough that he could get work today anytime he wants at basketball camps around the country. 

In August 2014, employees from the Apple Store at 15169 N. Scottsdale Road, in Scottsdale, reported a series of shoplifting events involving the same suspect over the course of the previous few months.  The suspect, Rex Chapman, was originally identified by multiple employees based on his previous celebrity status as an NBA basketball player.

Chapman is alleged to have picked up items in the store and made it appear that he was paying for the items through the store’s self-checkout (via iPhone app). He would then leave the store without actually paying for the items. He allegedly took the items to a local pawn shop and sold the items for cash.

 shame, when i read this yesterday i went and youtubed old rex videos. There’s a vid of him dropping 39 on the bulls in ’96 leading the heat to a victory over the bulls the year they went 72-10. I remeber that game when it happened and everyone was saying the bulls partied hard the night before in south beach and the way rex is blowing by jordan and pippen i beleive it. 

Rex had one of the quicker releases and didnt need to have his shoulders squared at all. Kind of a shame he looks to have low moral standards and allowed his life to go that route.

after his freshman year at UK alot of people thought he was going to become a huge star..During the time of the 1988 draft, i  remember a few people saying how surprise they were that he went ahead of Mitch Richmond and Hersey Hawkins …Becuz he had that much potential…But he didnt have the competitive fire and didnt do the little things that make some players great…

For years there have been stories of his drug use..Hopefully this could lead to him getting the help he needs…
