MopgrassParticipantHere’s a list of the change in standings from last year to this year and, more importantly, the change in winning percentage.
Improved teams:
Knicks up 2 spots 196%
Spurs up 0 spots 177%
Charlotte up 6 spots 167%
Orlando up 2 spots 126%
Miami up 6 spots 125%
Detroit up 4 spots 125%
Timberwolves 2 spots 123%
Thunder 118%Teams that got worse:
Suns drop 4 spots 218%
Nets drop 7 spots 186%
Rockets 5 spots 183%
Pelicans 4 spots 180%
Hawks drop 5 spots 171%
Bulls drop 6 spots 110%
Mavericks 1 spot 110%
Blazers 2 spots 100%
Wizards drop 5 spots 99%
76ers drop 0 spots 84%Interestingly, if you exclude the Suns, the 5 teams that dropped the most changed their rosters very little over summer. Whereas, the Knicks and Hornets, who made a lot of summer acquisitions made big jumps. However, teams that are developing and just add through the draft like the Magic and Timberwolves made decent increases.
It looks like if you recently got a decent young core and added top picks, even if they’re future all-stars, you can jump about 120ish points. Next year that should apply to the 76ers, Lakers, Suns, and Wolves (again). Unless any have several major changes, standings for them shouldn’t change much more than that. The Sixers might be the exception since, in their best case scenario, they might add 1-2 top 5 picks, Embiid, and Saric.

ChewyParticipantat the time, I was so frustrated with 5 straight seasons of not having a healthy team in the playoffs. We really only had 1 shot at winning it all in our entire 7 year championship window and Lebron took us out. I blamed Tibs and finally gave up on him.
Looking at this Bulls team… I miss Tibs.
