FutureNBAGMParticipantHas anyone ever kept track of Chad Ford’s past mock drafts to see how accurate it’s been to the actual draft? Yes, you could say Im questioning his insight. I see so many posts here asking for the latest version of his mock draft. But really, how is his track record as far as predicting where teams will go?

MagikKnickParticipantHonestly, between this site, DX, and Chad Ford…I would say that Ford is the most accurate
He usually has good “sources” on projected/expected trades.
However, it’s still not saying much because we’re talking about like a 25% accuracy rate

TyroberParticipantThis is obviously a guessing game. I read something about David Aldridge the other day and he was right about 17% of the time. Mocks are fun to do because we all get to play GM and put these people where we think they will go knowing full well we have no clue what the team is actually thinking. Maybe Ford knows a little more information that a few others, but those others know a little more information than him in certain areas as well. Just a fun guessing game.

bloodshyParticipantI actually read a post on http://www.slcdunk.com a few weeks ago that ran the stats on the accuracy of all well known draft sites over the last several years. My recollection is that Chad Ford’s accuracy was one of the worst of that group. The best was draft express and the second best was nbadraft.net. These two were the best by a wide margin and their respective accuracy was almost identical.

CynthiaParticipantBefore I knew about this site a few years ago I used to follow Chad Ford mocks, and quite frankly he usually sucks. I don’t have any accuracy percentages or anything, but he’d probably rank pretty low if he was a mocker for this site.
Last year was much more predictable than this years draft is, and he only got 4/30 in the first round correct. I’m no expert and it was my first time I ever did a mock and I got 6/30 right last year…Our winner last year (Siggy) he got 9/30 so yeah, that’s how good Chad Ford is.

gopack10ParticipantFord is quite possibly the most inaccurate of anyone. Not because he isn’t in the know or because he sucks at projecting but mainly because he has so much information coming to him that it is hard to decipher what is legitimate and what is rumors being spread by teams.
His mocks factor in trades that he gets wind of and when those trades don’t happen it makes his mock look worse. But all in all most of the major sites (aside from CBS because those goons don’t know basketball) do a decent job of projecting and mocking with this site being 1a and DX being 1b.

moochieeParticipantI would say that his sources are good, but his intuition is usually bad

scliddiardParticipantIf you follow what Ford says, he is supposed to be in contact with all the teams front offices/scouts/GM’s and if he is the least accurate what does that tell you about the FO’s and GM’s , they are all feeding him a line of Bull and can’t be trusted. That wouldn’t surprise me at all. None of the teams want to let anyone know exactly what they are doing and who they like.

MopgrassParticipantThe general managers go to Chad Ford because the NBA has a deal with ESPN that makes the NBA lots of money. They are obligated to report things to ESPN, who chose Chad Ford as their guy.
However, as there is one main guy reporting all the draft information (Chad Ford), and there are few others getting the word straight from GM’s, there are few other reporters around that can even check if what Ford is saying is true or not.
In the end, Chad Ford doesn’t report facts, he reports what general managers want him to say because he doesn’t have the power to force them to tell him the truth. Essentially, he becomes a puppet for the smoke and mirror games that GM’s play. What he reports is probably a good indication of what GM’s want other GM’s to think.

jwostrumParticipantford is the guy who proclaimed darko as a can’t miss in 03 when there was LeBron, wade, Carmelo, and bosh. I believe he compared him to larry bird. he could not have been anymore wrong about that one, and there were obviously other players who were far more talented, even at that time.
