Moon RiverParticipantNot a huge fan of Ford, but he does seem to have a good connection to GM’s around the league so have to pay attention to what he says. Here are some subjects/comments he made on today’s chat that I thought were interesting:
1. Kyrie Irving privately telling people he wants out of Cleveland
2. Cavs GM Grant likely to be fired
3. Bosh most likely of the big three to not be in South Beach next year
4. Affalo- one of the best trade chips on the market
5. Andre Drummond is "untouchable" by the Pistons
6. Likes Wiggins and Embiid going with the first 2 picks. Order is still a question
7. Parker and Exum battling it out for the #3 slot
8. Aaron Gordon reminds him of ……….Andrei Kirilenko and
9. Two players most likely to stay in school Embiid and Parker.

Lafferty DanielParticipantThanks for the recap. I just read the chat transcript and Ford also mentioned that he thinks Tyler Ennis can be a Mike Conley type of PG in the NBA. I thought this comp was interesting, but I don’t really see Ennis being as good as a scorer and racking up the steals like Conley in the NBA.

machu46ParticipantYeah, I’m the one that asked him that question. I don’t see it either, but I’m curious to read that article that he’s working on when it comes out.

hoopgeniusParticipantTotally different athletes. Both very cerebral PGs but Conley is just a much better athlete I doubt Ennis will ever be as good as Conley.

juves4783Participantyeah, i read something on insider the other day where other gm’s thought that irving was "pouting" and unhappy. i think all those comments make sense. thanks for the share.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipant1. I can’t see why he’d want to stick around unless they get lucky in the Draft or Free Agency, I still think getting Deng was a great move and who knows maybe Waiters, Bennett and Thompson can step up and show us what Top 5 picks should look like…Bottom line is does Kyrie have any real incentive to stay when the deal he has now expires
2. Chris Grant should be fired, I still can’t remember what his explaination was for reaching on Tristan Thompson, then he passes on Harrison Barnes for Dion Waiters and takes Anthony Bennett over Olapido or Mclemore…He’s had several chances to put pieces around Kyrie and has failed, this isn’t what happened with Danny Ferry and Lebron, Ferry didn’t have back to back to top 5 picks(2 Top Picks Overall), he got lucky with Kyrie, and almost lucked out with several prospects, oh, and he’s still doesn’t have a Center for the Future, all these Centers came out of nowhere and he can’t draft/trade for one, Varejoe ain’t no spring chicken…FIRE Grant Today Cleveland..
3. Chris Bosh would be smart to collect a Max/Near Max deal with a Team like Philly or Chicago, he’d be asked to have a larger role potential make a name for himself away from the Big 3 or Heatles, I wouldn’t mind Bosh in a 76er uniform next to Nerlens Noel, I’m just saying…
4. Affalo is a good trade chip but my question is this, What’s he worth and who else really needs him??? Aaron seems like a Championship piece on a Bottom feeder, he’s playing incredible but he’s not helping the team wins games. What’s he worth? A Lottery Pick in This Draft? A mid level prospect? What’s there asking price? Vaguely spouting off the fact Aaron Affalo is the best trade chip on the market does not help the Magic’s cause, they need to gage what he’s worth…
5. DUH!?! Who thought Joe Dumars was dumb enough to trade Andre Drummond after the start he’s had to his career? Joe Dumars has made some bad moves but that’s David Kaun/Chris Grant territory.
6. I’ve been saying the draft order will go Wiggins 1st, Embiid 2nd and Parker 3rd, Smart will go 4th and Noah Vonleh will go 5th, Randle, Exum and Gordon will follow these guys in some order with Rodney Hood and James Young rounding out the Top 10, Adrien Payne is the Paul Milsap of this draft, Dario Saric and Doug McDermont will have better career’s than most of the players taken ahead of them
7. No way a GM takes an unproven Euro Guard with no jump shot over Parker, Smart or Vonleh, maybe he reaches for him if he doesn’t like any of these guys (Randle, Gordon, Hood, Harris, Young, Saric or McDermont) but it’s not a foregone conclusion
8. Aaron Gordon reminds me of…..Blake Griffin…I think they have a lot of the same physical attributes and with time Gordon’s body could look like Griffin’s, remember Blake stayed in school for his Sophmore season and sat out a year due to injury before truly busting out on the scene, If Gordon were to return to school and develop his body and skillset he’d be in discussion for the # 1 pick IMO
9. No way Embiid stays in school after this season, He’s really got nothing to gain besides an extra year of the College Experience, Much more to lose if he stays and DOES NOT DEVELOP in year 2
No way Parker stays at Duke, IMO he’s a gamer and the college game isn’t going to satisfy his need for competition, sure he could stay but that case could be made for any prospect, Parker is a Top 5 lock and could be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick and make 4-5 million dollars next Year, Duke is a great place to be if you can’t collect 5 million RIGHT NOW, but Parker can and will get that money

imAboutDatActionParticipantthrow the Gordon/Blake comparisons out the window.he had that coming into the college season, he WILL NEVER be that type of player. he’s simply not as dominate. he’s really overrated. Gordon is a good athlete, but not the Blake caliber athlete.Blake is a GREAAAT athlete, one of the best in the NBA. Gordon will be a tweener at the next level,no real position. i could see him staying another year, he’s in a great program, stock is falling and from hearing him speak he never struck me as a one and done type.
Embiid has came out and said he feels he;’s not ready and still unsure about coming out.Parker has a few videos floating around saying one of the reasons he didnt go to Kentucky was because he wasnt with the whole " one and done" movement. he said his family values education highly. thats why Ford thinks both are likely to stay. they have been giving those signs since the start of the year.
other than that, agree with most of your points though.

Lafferty DanielParticipant@Scare Crow Rises – You had me until #7. I know it’s only the end of January, but do you really think that Noah Vonleh gets drafted before Dante Exum?

strobox88ParticipantYou do know those are the 5th and 6th mock draft picks on this site right now? Sure it could happen. Now what I would love to know is how those guys get picked before Randle.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI know everyone thinks Love to the Lakers is a done deal, but if Bosh gets shipped out of Miami I really think Love would much rather go play with Lebron than whoever the Lakers put together alongside Kobe for his last year.
0- Posted on: Thu, 01/30/2014 - 11:33am #866864

imAboutDatActionParticipantBosh will not be traded. he’s currently their 2nd best player. the only way he’ll leave is thru free agency.
i doubt he does though. living in Miami is a plus and he’s been winning over there. but out of the 3, he has the highest chance of leavig.depends how much "being the man" means to him.

TallmanNYCParticipantHow do they afford Lebron, Love and Wade? Plus other NBA players? I see the Heat sticking with Wade out of loyalty. Lebron staying Miami because it is his team, his home and they have Wade. And no money left for Love. Yes playing with Lebron would be great, but LA does have the inside track on Love.
Oh and the Nets will go after Durrant. Part of "our" pitch is going to be "see how much money we dropped to surround DWill with player? Do you think any other team will do as much? So you get th best owner, a big market and a great stadium." I think the Nets have a shot at KD in 2016. Lets be clear that that OKC has no shot. The second best player in the league is not resigning to a team in Oklahoma as a free agent. Especially not a cheap team that let a guy like Harden walk for a late first round draft pick.

joecheck88ParticipantKyrie needs a reality check. He’s got great potential to be a superstar but he hasn’t taken the step this year needed. Maybe getting out of Cleveland will help but he should be putting that team in the East at least at the 6 seed.
Chris Grant doesn’t have a fan here. He’s blatantly missed on very good prospects the past few years. Pretty badly. Drafted late lotto talent in the top 5.
If Bosh can get close to a max in South Beach he should stay. He’s the second option this year and of Lebron is staying they are a contender year in and year out.
I’m not in love with Affalo. Think he’s a good pieceou can’t expect a great piece in return. I really can’t think of a place for him that makes a lot of sense.
Lol. As well he should be untouchable.

joecheck88ParticipantNot sure you can have the order yet because we don’t know who is picking where. The top 3 are too close right now and it could be a preference thing.
I don’t know enough about Exum to comment. Be tough to pass on Parker though.
Aaron Gordon reminds me of something like Shawn Marion and Kirilenko. He’s a combo forward in a way that is successful. Hard work, length and athleticism.
and I’m not buying either staying. I’d say Embiid more likely. Maybe more due to Parker plateauing and striking while the iron is hot. Hard to risk top 3-5 guarantee. Especially of he doesn’t put up better numbers in year 2 of college.

Ghost01ParticipantNot to diss Chad, I just don’t take a lot of stock in "talk around the league" because a lot of times it just doesn’t come true. We’ve heard other reports saying "No GM in the league would pick Wiggins over Embiid" and such, when realistically, until the college season is over, the lottery is done, and the workouts are done, there is no accurate way to predict what will happen.
And as far as most of the current NBA stuff he touched on, I thought most of it was pretty obvious. Nothing against Chad – all NBA reporters are like this.
