I was looking over some NBA rosters today and I realized just how weak the center position is. Besides Dwight,I can’t see an elite center on anyone’s roster. It’s a sad story because the now anyone who is 7 foot and can run without falling on themselves is considered a prospect. Year after year, bust after bust, and this is what the center position has come to- Last year the position was so weak that you had 38 year old Shaq starting,Ronny Turiaf starting for a playoff team, and 6’6” Chuck Hayes starting 63 games for the Rockets. I have hope that the center positon will get stronger in players like Mcgee Oden Valanciuanas Biyombo Mozgov and Drummond among others. I think the league is at its best the premier players are big men.

Yeah, but in today’s game their are so many athletic players that post players have difficulty if they aren’t really skilled or physically gifted.  Center’s tend to be more valuable for their defense now.  More teams play outside-in rather than vice versa.  I don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing, though.  Up-tempo pick n’ roll basketball is still exciting.

True, but from a fans standpoint I would really like to see to monsters going at it in the paint than pick n’ roll, which is part of every teams offense now.
