Celtics3178ParticipantI thought the Celtics would wait until next year but it turns out Danny and company don’t plan on waiting. The Celtics are reportedly on the verge of trading for a superstar using the nets pick to do so. A producer on 98.5 bostons local sports who reported the day before Jaylen brown would be the pick and the first to announce the Horford signing has said the celts will acquire a superstar although he couldn’t announce a name yet. If both nets picks are in play it has to be Westbrook, Griffin or cousins. I’m wondering who people would prefer. Russell is the best out of the 3 but we have so many talented guards. Griffin is perfect for are offense and rebounding. I prefer cousins over the two and it might sound crazy. Cousins is 2 years younger and already signed long term. He also allows Horford to slide to pf and we instantly become the best rebounding and defensive team in the nba. I also think we can get cousins for a package of Amir crowder rozier and the nets picks which would allow us enough cap room next year to sign an all star. The trade also works salary wise for this year. It would give the Kings two top 5 picks in a star studded class for there new coach to get his guys. What do people think?

ChewyParticipantSacramento has been openly shopping Rudy Gay. This means they ethier are trading Cousins and rebuilding whole sale, or they are trying to completly rebuild around Cousins. But, managment decisions made by the Kings haven’t always followed common sense.
OKC could be deciding that since they lost out on Durant, that they need to trade Westbrook ASAP. Everyone assumes he won’t resign in OKC. The closer it gets to the trade deadline, the more other teams will try and low ball OKC. Other teams might just wait completley and take their chances on signing him as a FA.
Doc seems ultra loyal to his guys (even to a fault) so I would guess that Griffin is the least liekly "star" to be in this deal.
Celtics have young prospects for days, so they can afford to send 2-4 quality role players off, if it gets them a trye star back. Plus, on a personal note, I love watching Yabusele play in this summer league. He is much more skilled than I expected him to be. Would love to see him come in immediately for a bench role. A trade may open that option up.

publius2481ParticipantI heard this rumor, but I am sceptical. Just yesterday we had the Griffin to Boston rumor, so I will believe it when I see it. Now, assuming the rumors are legit, my guess is the trade is for Blake. The 98.5 guy said it was someone we would like (bye Cousins because people are divided on him). I don’t see OKC trading Westbrook yet and the Bulls do not look like they are trading Butler. If the Celtics can get a third team to send veteran talent to LA, I could see a deal here.

I am an idiotParticipantI am sure that Danny is on the phone with all three teams. Westbrook seems the most likely. It is hard to imagine OKC passing up on a fair trade offer. Who better than the C’s?
I prefer him to Cousins or Griffin. Our guards are great defenders but we need more scoring. IT will go back to the 6th man role, where he belongs. He’s a smaller Microwave Johnson (Nanowave Thomas?)
Cousins next, Griffin last (and least likely)

Memphis MadnessParticipantI don’t see them getting a superstar. I can see them getting some solid guys though.
I would think Ricky Rubio is on the trading block. If they give the keys to Dunn then where does that leave Rubio?
Would Avery Bradley and Sullinger be enough to get that deal done? The T Wolves could use Sully at the 4. Bradley could be a good backup combo guard who can play some defense.
Rubio would be a really good pass-first floor general for them. Either with IT as a small backourt or with Marcus Smart as a less small backcourt.
Other potential additions: Gordon Hayward. Not an all-star either but a high level guy. He can score, shoot, and do a bit of everything else. Also played under Brad Stevens at Butler.
Jabari Parker: Greek-O-Thon is the combo to build around in Milwaukee. They have some other players too. What is Jabari? A combo scoring forward who really isn’t a 3 point threat? Just a volume scorer? He might be a guy that the Celtics look at. I am sure the Bucks would take a future Celtics draft pick or two and a decent/two decent youngsters (Terry Rozier and James Young or RJ Hunter).

NBAjunkie81ParticipantI would LUV to see the Celtics playing for Conference Titles & NBA Championships……
From 2008 to 2010 was Phenomenal when the Lakers & Celtics were both in the Mix for Rings…..
If K.G.’s knee holds up in 2009, those two storied Franchises play All 3 Finals……
But I believe if the Celtics could get their hands on Russell Westbrook or Boogie Cousins or maybe even Jimmie Butler then Boston Immediately becomes #2 in the Eastern Comference % suddenly that Eastern Conference Final between Cleveland & Boston becomes MUST See TV for 6 or 7 games!
I don’t see Boston beating Cleveland……….. but OMG w/ Boston’s young Pit Bull defenders & if Westbrook or Boogie was Riding w/ Isaiah Thomas & Al Horford —- I’m All In!!!

OhCanada-ParticipantRozier, Brown and the two Brooklyn picks along with some of the international talent would be a decent haul for OKC or any team for that matter. The Clippers could trade Griffin to Boston in a similar deal and target some veterans they would likely end up as good as they are right now despite losing a superstar. The Kings pulling the trigger on Cousins just makes sense.

HitsterParticipantA trade between Clippers and Celtics is always probable as Doc and Ainge worked together for many years and may be more receptive to each other than rival conference teams.
Blake Griffin has a player option next year so I guess he will opt out so that could mean the Celtics could target him via FA also. I wonder if they might trade for a big name this season then look to add another star via FA next summer who would find a strong Celtics team very appealing.

They were already top 10

CU.LIONSParticipantCome on guys. Why would the Celtics trade HUGE assets in Brooklyn’s 2 lottery projected picks for a player (Griffin, Westbrook) who can sign else where next season. That would be a disaster. Too much assets to give up for a rental. Both Westbrook and Griffin will want to “test” the market next year.
Cousins on the other hand has the contract and the talent for the trade, Assuming Brad Stevens is willing to deal with a potential head case.

markfitz14ParticipantGriffin and Westbrook might not even stay so why give up a ton. They both will go to FA and then sign. It could be the same team. But that is a huge chance. At least Cousins has 2 years left to convince him. Or build around him better.
IT WILL TAKE A GOD FATHER OFFER TO GET COUSINS. The time is now though. Rozier has emerged in Summer League. He looked really good last night. He now makes Smart or Brown tradeable.
Bos- Cousins
SAC- Smart, Amir, 17Nets, 18Nets
This is a no brainer for SAC. A top 5 2017 Nets pick and another top pick sense their own pick would be top 5 in a loaded draft.
Potential of Smart, Giles, Fultz Core to build with. Or two of those top 6 guys in this next draft.

SAC: Gives: DMC, Malachi Richardson, GETS: Jahlil Okafor, Avery Bradley
BOS: Gives: 2 Brooklyn Picks, Avery Bradley GETS: Demarcus Cousins
PHI: Gives: Jahlil Okafor GETS: Malachi Richardson, 2 Brooklyn Picks
Not sure if I’d do that, but it could happen. Makes sense for Cousins to get out of SAC, SAC replaces with a very nice bigman of their own that can play next to their athletic bigs (Cauley Stein)…Philly gets guard, 2 picks, clears up center logjam.
