Out of the names I’ve seen tied to job so far: Lloyd Pierce, Jason Kidd, Jerome Allen, Ime Udoka, and Chauncy Billups I would go with Billups or Udoka.

Out of those names, I would think Billups would fit nice with Stevens.

Just saw Jay Larranaga and Scott Morrison are also in the mix. Early front runner looks to be Jay Larranaga. I actually like Scott Morrison over Billups and Udoka now he did a nice job with their G League team.

Maybe Coach Cal wants another shot in the nba. Boston has 2 young superstars and a player or 2 from being title contenders. And he use to coach in the area. I have a feeling Stevens might be looking to give a college coach the job, maybe Tony Bennett or Jay Wright ? Could Celtics Legend Kevin McHale be interested? If Portland loses and fires Stotts, he could be on the short list.

I don’t really care who gets it as long as its a 1st time head coach. David Vanterpool is another one that should be getting a HC gig soon. He’d probably be better in a rebuilding scenario though.

With Ainge steppoing back and Brad Stevens taking over the fronr office role then also promoting Jay Larranaga would make continuity sense. I agree a first time coach would be ideal and Boston you know will do their due dilligence but I feel Billups would be a great hire. He was a proven winner as a player and with a strong support staff and FO arround him would have a great chance of success,
Boston went to the college ranks to get Stevens and could do so again. Scott Drew has never had a crack at the NBA and his stock is unlikely ever to be higher and jobs like Boston don’t come up that often. Also working alongside another collehe alumi like Stevens could appeal to him.
    But I still favour Billups.

Why a first time coach? I’d go Nate McMillan, Kenny Atkinson, or Alvin gentry

H3LL NO! on billups. He was nice as a player. Doesn’t have any observation and creativity for TV commentary and coaching.. just no. he’ll be very unsuccessful.

Darvin Ham, Charles Lee, Jahmal Mosley, Nate McMillan (if not named permanent head coach of Hawks). Reportedly Celtics are looking to hire a young African American head coach that has been an assistant in league and played in the league that would be a players coach.

Finalist for the Celtics job getting 2nd interviews are Ime Udoka, Darvin Ham, and Chauncey Billups. I’m going with Udoka as I think Billups goes to Portland.
