Assuming the Celtics end up with a pick in the top 8/10 and a pick in the early-mid twenties, who do you think they should draft? I think they should grab a SF first to eventually replace Jeff Green (Johnson, Winslow, or Oubre) and then go after a C later in the draft. I think someone like Robert Upshaw would certainly be worth the risk late in the first round.

    Thoughts?

I like Zeller but a defensive guy and competitor such as WCS would fit really well. Later in the draft they should be looking at a guy like RJ Hunter or another shooter at the wing posisiton.

i think a good shooting wing like herzonja, winslow or oubre would be in their radar first.

i actually like zeller too and olynyk is not a bad guy off the bench.  i would go for pf with the next pick to replace brandon bass.  trey lyles and harrell would be the first on the list then chris mccollough, cliff alexander, bobby portis, christian wood and chris walker.

If they can get Oubre at 21 as he is on Aran’s latest mock then that would be a great pick up. Kevon Looney would  be an interesting pick up at around 8th pick and Mario Hezonja could also be an option.

We desperately need rim protection and a defensive anchor at the C position. Give me Myles Turner, WCS or Towns.

This is the best year tondraft a big man with so many lottery level talents at the 5, Ainge needs to secure one for our future.

Celtics do NOT need a PF. We have Sullinger and Olynyk.

    Smart is the future PG

    Bradley is an ok SG

We need a SF to replace Green.  Best options are at #6-10 where we can get Winslow, Oubre (his stock WILL rise), Hozonja.

As I said, we are set at PF.

Zeller is a nice C off the bench, but we need to get a starter.  Unlikely in this draft, maybe Free Agent.

For our #21 pick, BPA, Hopefully Kaminsky is on the board, or even Hollis-Jefferson to sure up the SF position.

Of course, C’s could target a C at 6-10.  In that scenario, Myles Turner or WCS are the best options.

At 21, we could go for Dekker if he is still around or Hollis-Jefferson.

Dark Horse: Dakari Johnson at 21.

I see a lot of potential in a possible Celtics- Sixers trade. The top of the draft is loaded with big men, and the Celtics have a ton of draft picks if they dont see a guy like Myles Turner being right for them. If Hinkie doesnt want a Okafor or Towns/ Embiid/ Noel situation, could trade down in that 8-10 range for a ‘scoring’ wing like Henzonja/ Oubre or potentially Stanley Johnson and pick up a couple more first round picks along with it. The Celtics would get their Center in Okafor (Even though he hasnt shown much rim protection) or Towns, Sixers get a wing plus more assets (what Hinkie really wants)

I don’t think Celtics are picking any later than 5, Danny’s gonna do his best to get us as a high a pick as possible this draft.

It’s our best chance of having a succesful rebuild and a primary reason for trading Rondo for what didn’t seem like much at first glance

Zeller and Olynyk get around a block or so per game if they played the minutes they should.  So Celtics need to draft the tall shotblocker with their highest first rounder.  This draft has plenty of prospects like that.

Their second first rounder, from the Clippers, another athletic center prospect or a scoring swingman.

Build from the inside, Zeller and Olynyk are very efficient scorers but a defender to put next to them is a big need.  Young is their shooting guard of the future, and now.  Green, Bass, Wright, Nelson, Thornton, they are unlikely to be around.  The Celtics may have to pick between Smart or Bradley, too similar and have the same weaknesses, while G Wallace will just sit on the bench for another year before his very large contract expires.

Celtics could also have one or two second rounders, so a lot of needs should be filled in the draft.

The Celtics lottery pick being traded to the 76ers for Nerlens Noel might be thought about too.

Noel makes a lot of sense for the Celtics, being from the area and a perfect fit on-court as an athletic defensove anchor.

I’d love to see us trade for him if we son’t have to give up too much.
