Cavs get back Jason Terry’s contract and a first round pick. It is very close to being completed, Nets are said to be the ones pushing for it. Cavs are also it seems trying to rid themselves of all veterans. According to Wojokowski(sp?) and others Deng is as good as gone with multiple deals on the table to get a 1st round pick back, cavs are just waiting to se if a team will throw more at them to make sure they get him. Also Houston has approached them again with the Varejao for Omer Asik and Dontas Mountijunas, cavs are supposedly more respective to it now but would like to add a 3rd team to take Asik and give cavs a expiring contract.

Man, the Nets’ tax bill is going to be ridiculous in two years.

Yuck. Giving up a first round pick? Even if it means dumping Terry’s contract, they still have to take on Jacks’…

Late 1st round picks really aren’t that valuable.

Brooklyn’s most recently tradeable 1st round pick isn’t until 2020 due to Stepian Rule which prevents teams from trading 1st round picks in consecutive years. Their 2014 pick has already been shipped out, 2016 and 2018 picks go to Boston in the KG/ Pierce trade so if Cleveland really is getting a pick out of this it won’t be coming for a real long time.

How are the Nets in all these trade talks? Not only do they not have an available 1st draft pick until 2020, but they’ve got 5 untradeable players paid over $12 million a year, and some of the remaining 8 players are needed to compete now.

I’ll be very impressed if the Nets improve their team and get Jarret Jack or Jordan Hill (also in rumors to the Nets).

I guess Mason Plumlee might be available, but they’d need some size for him because he’s getting15 minutes a game and Brook Lopez is out.
