The Cavs need a shot blocking big so would they be interested in an Tristan Thompson and Brendan Haywood swap for Amir Johnson?

Roster wise it makes sense as having K-Love and Thompson is uneccessary while Amir can play the backup C and PF spot.  With Varejao’s health always in question having a dependable player like Amir who can start and run the floor with Lebron and crew a natural fit.  The Cavs won’t have money to re-sign Thompson anyways as Lebron, Kyrie and Love would eat up all their available space. Plus if a 4th player on the Cavs is gonna get money you have to figure it would be Waiters.

The Raptors have money available to re-sign Thompson and having him as the first Canadian to be on the Raptors is icing on the cake.

Amir Johnson averaged 1.1 bpg in about 30mpg last year, why would they trade a guy who can average a double double along with a guy who averaged .8 bpg in 19 MPG? Doesn’t make much sense. They’ll get way more production out of the 2 than they would from Amir.

Amir Johnson is a really nice player to have, but he isnt’ a shot blocker by any means. Thompson role is unknown at this point, but that doesn’t mean they should trade him away for a lesser player since their cap will be tied up with Love, LeBron, and Irving. But even if they don’t have any cap space next year the Cavs can go over it to sign both Thompson and Waiters in the future.

To be honest, I find "trade idea’s" amongst the least interesting/relevant threads on this site.

They have almost nothing to do with the NBA Draft or upcoming prospects. I’d rather listen to Euroballer introduce a 7ft High School kid averaging 0.5ppg in the Greek Third division than another crappy trade idea.

Am I alone on this or do others share my point of view?

im from tdot and i wouldnt trade amir for those two. Amir is not a shot blocker yet he was a better rim protector than tristan, and better finisher than both big men, plus he can also knock down the 3 occasionally. Thompson does not commit as many fouls, but as Raptor fan im not giving cleveland Amir.

your right, but its also intriguing to see what kind of trade ideas are brought up. (realistic/logical, fanboy/unrealistic)
