don042488ParticipantI honestly don’t think the Cavaliers will win a championship with Dion Waiters as their starting shooting guard, the guy plays no defense and even with LeBron on the team he still plays iso ball, as evident the other night against the Mavericks. Waiters scored 14 points on 15 shots, while LeBron only scored 12 points on 6 shots, that’s a big problem when the best player on the planet only takes 6 shots. Kyrie was hot that game, but Waiters wasn’t, and he just kept chucking it up. I always hated Dion’s game, I think he’s a bench player. Waiters reminds me of fellow Philly baller, Ronald “Flip” Murray, who was good to come off the bench and light it up, but not a starter. I thought of a trade the Cavaliers should make, that would be to trade Dion Waiters and Joe Harris, to the Memphis Grizzles for defensive ace, Tony Allen, rookie Jordan Adams, and a 2015 first round pick. It works financially, and I think the Cavs acquiring another championship experienced player in Tony Allen, who plays gritty defense would improve their perimeter defense a bit as a starter, and Jordan Adams can score at will off the bench much like Dion Waiters could, without the big ego Dion has. Tony Allen in the starting lineup, can make LeBron, Kyrie, and Love more happy as he wouldn’t interfere with them scoring their points/getting touches. Allen’s sole purpose would be to lock down the opposing team’s best perimeter player.

NJHooper95ParticipantHe is better suited coming off the bench. He won’t get traded because LeBron likes him for now. The cavs would have better off trading him and trying to keep Wiggins. Waiters is a cancer as he was at cuse, he is a good player but not as good as he believes he is.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantmaybe Marion and Love. Not as cancers but as non pwssies. KI, LBJ, AV, MM, TT are nice guys and wouldn’t hurt a fly by nature. It’s great to have nice guys that will always walk away from a fight and just want to have fun playing basketball but a team needs someone tough, preferably more than just there 2 guard and back up pg. Hawes, Dion and Delly were friends last year and went to Indians games and stuff because they were the only ones not weaklings. Delly is Delly and is a G. Hawes and Waiters repeatedly were the only ones willing to give a tough foul and rally when it was necessary.
People are going to take shots at the Cavs and besides the big 3 Andy is a lighting rod for punishment. Dion almost fought somebody during a game last year for Andy, I still remember Lebron’s old Cavs letting Sheed slap the sh!t outta Z and didn’t even set a hard pick in return. Lebron let Wade be dirty and needed someone to do that for him in Miami, Dion will do it here.

JoeWolf1You’re right about Dion in that regard, but don’t throw Andy under the bus for not being tough.
He fucks with guys, trying to get under thier skin, flops, gives elbows when the refs aren’t looking. No, he’s not a brawler, or a real enforcer, but he’s an instigator, and gets guys to rack up T’s and thrown out of games. I wouldn’t exactly call him a nice guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly. He’d mind fuck the fly and get him swatted by someone else.
A lot of elite teams have had success with those kind of guys, Rodman, Bowen, MWP, Shane Battier etc…

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantand instigator is a great word for what he does in a Steve Adams type of way. But Noah would be the tough version of Andy. They do a lot of similar things but Noah does them tough. That’s not a knock just my observation. A bunch of angry tough guys would make for a bad team chemistry. MWP would be in the irritable and tough mold but Andy is definitely one of those guys.

JoeWolf1Lebron’s taking 6 shots because it’s the pre-season. The last 3 pre-seasons James has averaged less than 16 ppg, he just doesn’t need to flex anything, just work on meshing with his new team, and letting the guys who need it more do what the coach needs them to do.
Waiters is a chucker, but he’s a good enough outside shooter to spread the ball for James to operate. I think he’ll be reeled in pretty quickly when the games start to matter.

Anton123ParticipantDid you see the game?
LeBron didn’t shoot 6 times because of Waiters, it was because he was passive as hell yesterday. He didn’t do anything on the court, played bad defence on Parsons, didn’t rebound and turned the ball over with lazy passes. This was just a game he couldn’t give a damn about, which was a bit of a pity since he as playing in front of the home crowd.
I think Waiters can work on offense, with Kyrie and LeBron he will probably always be guarded by the worst defender on the opposing team and will be able to take advantage of that. He has improved as a catch and shoot player and as a passer.
Defensively he does need to step it up, he looked better the first couple of games, but last night was quite bad.
I’m pretty sure it’s possible to take advantage of Waiters’ skillset, I think his value is too low right now to trade him.
On a side note – Tristan Thompson looks great.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantgame and shot over 50% while leading the team in shots. He adds a edge. The Dallas game is th eonly one I haven’t seen and its DVR’d so I’ll watch it today. Saying he plays iso ball because he took 15 shots without actually seeing him play a lot of iso ball is bad posting. From what I understand he took 9 threes and made 4. So he went 0 for 6 in non three point shots. I want to see how that took place before commenting.
David Blatt had some interesting things to say after the game so we will see were that takes us in the future with Dion. Blatt shows he has more balls than Mike Brown had all last season every single interview he does. If its broke he’ll fix it.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantI would take Tony Allen if the Grizzly’s are out of that 8th spot via major injury. I would take Allen or Lee, they both have multi year deals that few teams want. So the deal would be the 5 million exepmtion and some fake 2nd rounders. Lee would fit even better than Tony Allen because he can hit a shot but Allen’s toughness would be well recieved.

TallmanNYCParticipantOh, I like that Tony Allen trade. It would really help to move Waiters to the bench as a spark plug scorer.
