goldie92689ParticipantWhat do you guys believe is the bigger factor in Cavs poor offensive effeciency. I think its Mike Brown, my brother says its cavs management that has dropped the ball putting the team together. What do you guys think? Who is a better coach, Byrin Scott or Mike Brown?

TRC1991ParticipantMike Brown’s tenure as the head coach of this team needs to be terminated…He’s never been offensively gifted as a coach

QuickPostCParticipantMike Brown is an unimaginative coach, but the problem here is personnel. Grant has done an atrocious job putting talent around Irving.
Three top picks….one a ball-hogging mental case, another offensively-challenged PF, and a #1 pick who can’t seem to figure out what position he wants to play….his mind says SF but his body and his eating habits say PF. All of those picks were reaches in the draft. It’s as if Grant thinks he sees and knows something other GMs, fans and decision-makers don’t know about scouting. It’s resulted in a mismatched group of players who don’t belong together.
Even the free agents being brought in have been confusing. Jack is a good player and top bench player but being the 3rd guard off the bench keeps the Cavs backcourt tiny. They also tried to make it seem like the Bynum singing was a big deal when most observers can tell he had 0 passion for the game and was done physically. Earl Clark was an inflated product of an up-tempo system and does not do well in halfcourt sets.
I hate to wish this on Cleveland fans……but I hope Irving leaves after his rookie contract and restricted free agency year is up and goes to a better run franchise.

hoopscopParticipantThe Ferry-Grant era is a horror show of pure incompetence. But Mike Brown, well having Lebron, Kobe, Kyrie and then playing year after year after the least watchable ball is something like very difficult. Del Negro and Brooks look like offensive Maestros compared to Mike.

wrectorParticipantI’m giving them the benefit of the doubt for right now. Once they’re 20 or 30 games in I’ll start to worry if it continues to be an issue. They still seem like they’re getting used to playing defense (since they didn’t play any under Scott), which is affecting their output on offense. One key observation I’ve made is that their offense thrives when they play well on D and when they pass the ball. Kyrie is so used to playing hero ball that he kind of ruins the flow of the offense sometimes.

rfarrell85ParticipantThe second unit has been disappointing. Jack takes way to many shots early in the shot clock. So does Miles but at least he’s been making them.

TRC1991ParticipantWhy Cleveland hasn’t contacted George Karl is beyond me…with the players on that roster, Karl’s up and down style would be PERFECT for the cavs

SiggyParticipantAs a head coach or like an offensive assistant? Being an assistant is beneath Karl and Brown was signed to a 5 yr deal (LoL).

don042488ParticipantThe Cavs wanted to draft Harrison Barnes in 2012 NBA draft and Victor Oladipo in the 2013 NBA draft, but both players and their agents didn’t want to go to Cleveland. For Barnes and his agent, they wanted him in a decent market, and the warm weather of California is more attractive than the cold winters in Cleveland. For Oladipo, he simply prefered living Orlando over Cleveland. The Cavs management doesn’t want another "Departure" to occur, so they reached for players they feel would be content staying in Cleveland for a while
