surveParticipantno, I am not bashing you…..good post. but terrible offer….and I am not the biggest fan of Davis even. I mean seriously….at least offer their 1st round pick from next year unprotected.

Tha King2121ParticipantYeah, everyone knows the trade wasn’t going to go down, Just justifying that the offer was extended

ChewyParticipantDavis is the biggest piece in convinging Eric Gordon to stay long term.

WizardofOzParticipantNo chance this was gonna happen, but doesn’t hurt to at least try. At least the Cavs did their due dilligence.

FUNKYBUNCHParticipantWhat would be a good offer for Anthony Davis??? Sure not this Cavs offer, but what?

NYK2010ParticipantThat offer was funny, imagine New Orleans does that deal they’d be the joke of the league.

TyroberParticipantSolid offer, but you really can’t put a price on Davis. Really impossible to trade for him.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantHaha, yep that trade would be more than fair in the NFL where a late first rounder and 2 early second rounders would be able to get you three starters but in the NBA it’s a joke. Most second rounders amount to nothing and late first rounders don’t usually contribute much either, especially for a few years.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThen The Hornets will look like Idiots for turning this deal down…As much as I love Anthony Davis , Is He worth 4 top 35 picks??? I mean the 4th pick could become a better player then Davis eventually and then the 24th could be a long time role player too, the 2 second round picks are where it gets iffy but you could still find some potential starters…I honestly feel like people can overvalue incoming rookies, I know Davis is a an amazing prospect but is he really worth 4 picks??? When you have a ton of holes to fill it’s worth considering…They could have ended up with the 4th, 10th, 24th, 33rd and 34th picks in the draft…Now I know everyone loves Davis and thinks he’ll be the next great PF but what if the 4th pick becomes a better player…wouldn’t this be a great offer in hindsight???…

surveParticipantThe Hornets wont look like idiots because the consensus is with Davis. If the 4th player becomes better then so be it….but who the Cavs would select at 4 is not necessarily who the Hornets would pick.
The deal is just not enough. The only deal would be to get a veteran perennial All-Star for the pick. If it is strictly draft pick for draft pick then this is not a sturdy offer. They should offer the 4th pick and next year’s 1st round pick unprotected and maybe 2014 protected and throw in whatever other picks they want.
Its just not worth the risk otherwise. If I were N.O. I would have to have at least another projected lottery pick to even consider it.
Also, Cleveland should be happy with those picks because I feel they can get Barnes and maybe Doron Lamb….thats damn good for the 1st round. They also will have a chance to get some other young players with good upside.
