Andrew1984ParticipantCavs fans and NBA observers, I’d love to get your thoughts on these offseason questions:
1. Will interim GM David Griffin be retained, or will Dan Gilbert hire a new GM?
2. Will Mike Brown be the Cavs’ coach next year?
3. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you want them to hire?
4. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you think they actually will hire?
5. Will they offer Kyrie a max extension?
6. Will Luol Deng re-sign?
7. Will Spencer Hawes re-sign?
8. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you want them to draft?
9. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you think they actually will draft?
10. Will the offseason include a “major shakeup,” or will they take more of a “stay-the-course” approach?0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/21/2014 - 5:53am #891441
KDThunder35Participant1. New GM
2. Mike Brown shouldn’t be coach, but will.
3. Somebody completely green, no old coaches who have run their course (Mike Woodson, Larry Drew, George Karl, etc, Nomad Coaches).
4. Probably someone I mentioned they shouldn’t in #3, a nomad coach.
5. Kyrie will get a max extension offer, will he accept it is a different question.
6. They will try to resign Luol, but he wants to go to a winner, so he is gone.
7. Hawes will probably resign, he likes his role on the team and he actually fits pretty well. Cavs just can’t win with him at center, not good enough on the defensive end.
8. James Young, he is a great shooter and would fit nice next to Kyrie. He plays hard defense and doesn’t require the ball in his hands to be effective (Perfect for playing with both Kyrie and Waiters).
9. Depends on who is on the board still, but I assume they go for Noah Vonleh to shore up their front-court and cover the blunder of both Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennet (Save me the Tristan is good and coming along claims, if you watch Cavs games a lot he plays awful one on one defense and terrible help side defense. He also is offensively deficient. He switched his shooting hand in the pro’s for crying out loud, if that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is).
10. Cavs need to shake it up. They need to either commit to Kyrie or Waiters (I’m praying Kyrie because I personally don’t like Waiters). If they try to stay the course Kyrie is good as gone.

festar35Participant1. Will interim GM David Griffin be retained, or will Dan Gilbert hire a new GM? Retained they played much better later in the season.
2. Will Mike Brown be the Cavs’ coach next year? I think he is gone.
3. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you want them to hire? Not a Cavs fan, but I think George Karl would be a great coach for them.
4. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you think they actually will hire? No idea, Mike D’Antoni jks
5. Will they offer Kyrie a max extension? Yes
6. Will Luol Deng re-sign? No he wants to go elsewhere.
7. Will Spencer Hawes re-sign? I say yes to this as they have the ability to offer him a nice contract.
8. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you want them to draft? Doug McDermott can come in a be a consistent shooter and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective.
9. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you think they actually will draft? Dario Saric
10. Will the offseason include a “major shakeup,” or will they take more of a “stay-the-course” approach? I think we see a minor shake up in the form of some older players moving, the question mark to me is does Waiters remain.

Andrew1984Participant1. Will interim GM David Griffin be retained, or will Dan Gilbert hire a new GM? I have a feeling Griffin is here to stay.
2. Will Mike Brown be the Cavs’ coach next year? No
3. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you want them to hire? George Karl, or maybe try to lure Reggie Miller into coaching. Or if they want to get unreasonably creative, Dave Arseneault from Grinnell.
4. If Mike Brown is not brought back, who do you think they actually will hire? Probably someone boring like Nate McMillan or Mo Cheeks.
5. Will they offer Kyrie a max extension? I think they will.
6. Will Luol Deng re-sign? No. I’m guessing he’ll sign with the Nets or Clippers.
7. Will Spencer Hawes re-sign? Yes. He’ll play wherever his FGAs can be highest, and that’s Cleveland.
8. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you want them to draft? Kyle Anderson, Doug McDermott, TJ Warren
9. If the draft pick lands in the 8-10 range, who do you think they actually will draft? Noah Vonleh or Rodney Hood
10. Will the offseason include a “major shakeup,” or will they take more of a “stay-the-course” approach? I’m guessing there will no major trades, a couple mediocre FA signings, and a SF to replace Deng drafted. A fairly status quo offseason despite all the noise.0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/21/2014 - 6:14am #891567

Kevin6CDParticipant1: Griffin will come back; 2: Brown will not be back; 3: Not sure who they get, but I bet they whiff on their top one or two desired candidates; 4: Idk; 5: Yes; 6: No; 7: Yes, but for more than he’s worth; 8/9: Aaron Gordon; 10: Stay the course.

tidhoParticipant1) Interim GM will stay.
2) Mike Brown is still the coach.
3) Hopefully someone with college experience sinse his team will be a bunch of 22yos.
4) Don’t know, but if Mike is gone they’ll go young, not a retread.
5) Of course they’ll offer Kyrie the max.
6) Deng wants to leave. I don’t expect the market for him to be big at all, but it only takes one offer.
7) Hawes will resign, unless there are major changes to the backcourt and the Cavaliers decide not to offer.
8) I would take Young, Vonleh, or Hood.
9) They will take McDermott or Harris
10) Cavaliers are looking to shake things up, but it won’t be by dealing Irving or Waiters. No reason for either of those guys to be sent packing.
