I don’t know if you guys got to watch him play much this season as he was the star for NC State, a team that competed but struggled in the ACC, but he had a really great season. Statistically he was outstanding posting 23-4-4 per game to go along with 87 percent at the foul line.  He also made 232 free throws, third most in the nation…impressive for a point guard.  He was the first player to average 23-4-4 in the ACC since Kenny Anderson.  Big-time stuff.  Obviously, NC State struggled this year but he was pretty dynamic today against Duke as I got to watch the game.  He scored 29 with 7 assists.  His performance made me want to do some research on him.  I was wondering what you guys think of his NBA potential and/or draft range if he were to declare?  NC State would be really interesting next year if he returned to play with Dennis Smith Jr.

This man is great. I’m a huge state fan and saw him play and it was crazy. He is incredibly quick and an improving jumper. If he leaves he leaves but I think next year we would be crazy at the guard position

He will have an amazing combine with his speed so he might go pro and sneak into the 1st round. Or he could comeback for the Wolfpack who should return all 7 rotation players and add dennis smith next year.

 Love Cat. Now.. His stock will never get higher than it is now, he has to leave. Yeah they have Dennis Smith coming in but Cats role might diminish with D Smith. Cat will be a late lotto to mid 1st round pick because the draft is WEAK at the PG spot.

I like Barber, as he’s incredible, lightning quick. But late lotto???
As evaluating a prospect I hate the statements like "he’s the first to do something since 50 B.C." because that’s as misleading as possibly can… At first Barber plays almost every game a full 40 minutes (even in blowouts, averaging 39) so that’s 23-4-4 is a bit deceptive (a normal player does 30 minutes in college, translating that’s 18-3-3 – won’t jump out of page). He does it on a very weak team, worst in the ACC (we can toss out as a share with Wake Forest), on team where outside the improving frosh Maverick Rowan virtually nobody can score. 
His rise on this site’s mock reminds me of Nevada’s Deonte Burton. A small (but stronger) scoring guard, who can’t really shoot, putting big numbers on an awful team. Burton now a mediocre D-Leauge backup. I’m much higher on Barber, unlike Burton he has a place in the NBA thanks to his quickness. 
Though Barber isn’t a very effective scorer, he finally started to improve his jumper, although he’s still inconsistent at best. His elite quickness won’t separate him in the NBA as much as in college against much bigger, stronger veterans and as rookies always get limited minutes shooting woes easily can demote him to the D-Leauge. He won’t be anymore a No.1 scoring option on any NBA team, not even their garbage time fives. I like the Ish Smith comparisons talent wise, but from mentality they are on another page, Ish has a pass first mentality, Cat is a scorer. He don’t have the distributing nor the defense (0.6 stl per 39 min which a valued indicator amongst scouts).
If he only wants to get the highest draft pick he can, this is the year, but if he wants a better career and avoid to fade out he should come back. Sitting on a dysfunctional team’s bench almost always broke player development. NC State would be a very interesting team, refine his shooting as much he can (college is still the best place to improve as a player) and taking a back-seat role to Smith Jr. to prove he can be valuable in a diminished role (a must) and also that he can do some damage on a competitive team. 
Finally I’m not sure I’ll select Ish Smith in the late lotto/mid first…
