The Mavericks are apparently not going to offer him a contract extension, and he is has said on his Twitter page and in an article in the Washington Post last season that he would really like to return to Washington. Would the Wizards go for it and actually bring him back, even though they could never win anything with him?

    Lineup pg: Wall/Hinrich

                sg: Arenas/Young

                sf: Butler/ Thornton

                pf:Blatche/ Yi

                c: McGee/ Armstrong

    Thoughts????

Man that lineup would be vicious. And I do think Ernie Grunfield would sign him. Everyone in D.C. loves Caron Butler, he’s a high character guy, big with charity, and on a basketball standpoint he can score, defend, and rebound efficiently even if he isn’t a top option. As for him never being able to win in D.C, that was a whole different core. That core is gone. The Arenas/Butler/Jamison core never didn’t anything big because for one reason they were never all healthy together, and secondly they had no legit big men. Jamison is as soft as an old mango. If Butler were to sign in D.C., he and Arenas would just be starting pieces. The real core trio in D.C, now is Wall/Blatche/Mcgee. I think Butler would be a great signing for them as long as it’s reasonable and just a 3-4 year deal. Although if Josh Howard proves this season that he can be a quality starter again, re-signing him will probably be much cheaper than Butler. Washington is going young but you do want some quality veterans.
