Appaerently there have been reports that Carmelo to the Nets is a done deal. All they need is for him to accept the contract extension to the Nets and it’s done. If this is true, I find this really dumb. Why would Carmelo leave A better Nuggets team, to go to an even worse Nets team and even when they go to Brooklyn, they’ll still be second to the Knicks. I wanna know what your guys’ thoughts on this are, cause imo, this isn’t a good situation for Carmelo.

I think it is all rumors but NJ is willing to give Denver the best deal so they are looking at it but I doubt Melo accepts.

yeah, several media outlets say its a done deal…but a tv station in denver said the nuggets told them there was no deal…reports were premature becuz many thought after the nets got those 2 1st round picks ,denver had finished the deal..

they say the deal in complete but melo hasnt agreed to sign an extension with the nets…and melo hasnt agreed to it..

its like a boring soap opera

If it’s a done deal and he does sign the extension…hey, NY made the play for him, can’t rip them. Now, we let Curry’s contract expire and go get me Mayo!

I feel like Melo is rotting away in Denver…but at least they are a playoff team. Putting him on NJ is just a waste of time. No way he resigns there, they stink!

this is how denver is playing there cards they want the teams that are really in the hunt ex. chitown and ny to get nervous and rush to get the deal done the faster this gets done the better it is for denver

this is from espn.newyork.com by chris sheridon
    http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&id=5919781

Q: Are the New Jersey Nets still in the Melo sweepstakes?

A: They believe they are, because that is what they are being told by the Nuggets and by Anthony’s camp. But the reality is that they are out of it and have been for a long time, and it behooves Denver to create the illusion that other destinations besides New York are still in play. New Jersey still has the best offer sitting on the table that suits the Nuggets’ primary need — to make any Anthony trade a rebuilding trade. But the trade has not happened because Anthony will not sign an extension with New Jersey. He is trying to leverage his way into being dealt to New York.

Q: What kind of a timetable are the Nuggets on for resolving the MeloDrama?

A: A tighter one than most realize. A league source told ESPN.com that Denver also is in discussions with Chicago regarding a J.R. Smith trade, and the Nuggets have other long-term roster decisions to make, including whether they will seek to move Chauncey Billups in a trade. But nothing can happen until they know what the future holds in regards to Anthony, whose No. 1 desire is to be dealt to New York and to sign a three-year contract extension worth nearly $65 million that would pair him alongside Amare Stoudemire through the 2014-15 season.

The deal Denver can make with the Knicks right now might be better than the deal New York would be willing to make a month from now, or two months from now. And the Nuggets are determined to not lose Anthony with nothing in return as the Cavs did with LeBron, and the Raptors did with Chris Bosh. Anthony told FanHouse he expects a resolution by the Feb. 24 trade deadline.

I know this is a business and I know that the owners of the teams trade players all the time for different reasons, but with all that said…

I can’t stand when a player forces a trade. All of the players I dislike in the NBA were either rivals to the teams I liked or players that seemed to arrogant. Didn’t like it when Kobe, coming out of HS non the less, didn’t want to play for Charlotte and ordered a trade with the Lakers. Stephon Marbury and his "wanna play in NY, get me outta Minnesota crap and even though LBJ is a bit different, just can’t cheer for him.

    Shut up and play.

"Twitter almost exploded about 30 minutes ago when a relatively unknown Denver reporter named Lionel Bienvenu tweeted from the DenverChannel twitter account that the Nets & Nuggets had agreed in principal to trade the Nuggets star, pending Carmelo signs the contract extension that’s been on the table for months."

I learned it from one of my blogging sites and they got their info from twitter. If you guys wanna look for the tweets, be my guest.

And I do like KD alot. Superstar stud that is a team first kinda guy. Playing in a small market and loyal to fans and organization so far. I don’t see him pulling that kinda crap in the future, on the other hand I do see Westbrook doing this one day.

He’s not forcing a trade, he is simply not signing an extension. So the media jumps all over it because they assume since he’s not signing he’s trying to leave Denver. Melo has never said anything about being traded, its all assumptions based on the extension. What do you expect Melo to do, he doesn’t have to resign in Denver. He has been a good sport and not been a troublemaker, had the Nuggets not been pushing hard for him to sign an extension this whole Melo thing would be non-news. Nuggets are freaking out cuz they don’t want to lose him, and the media is running with it for the $$$$.

When people say he’s forcing a trade, it just shows they don’t understand anything… its a domino effect of Melo not signing an extension that is OPTIONAL.

Play ball and keep everything business behind close doors with him, the team and his agent. Now I don’t know who leaked out the fact that he doesn’t want to sign the extention, or the stuff about him only signing an extention if he is sent to NY. But I have feeling that the Nuggets aren’t just making it up to make Melo look bad. If he wants to leave then leave when the contract is over like LBJ did. Do it in a professional and respectful mannor. Don’t get me wrong everyone has the right to shop around their talents, but don’t be a jerk while doing it. (my views are my views and they are based on if he really did say he will only sign with NY)

Seeing what Amar’e is doing in NY has no doubt shown him that putting the team and city on his back and succeeding in Brooklyn would be totally worth the risk.

After seeing what Favors has to offer I say the Nets are stupid if this rumor is true (assuming Favors is the building block to this trade). Melo won’t sign with the Nets on the sole purpose that they have NOTHING to build on. They have a score first point guard, and a center with a nice touch. They will be great on offense, but talk about a terrible defense. I think that Favors has shown good promise so far, and the nets should stick with him. They need to have a POWER forward next to the poor rebounding Lopez

I wouldn’t get rid of Favors if I was the Nets, a big man with his upside isn’t something that comes along very often. He actually has more double-doubles this year then Lopez. I see him averaging a double-double next year. Melo will get his points and put more fans in the seats, but wont make them much better. The Nets are lacking talent top to bottom, one player isn’t going to make a difference. They need to develop the young guys they got, and stack draft picks.

To say that it would be possible to keep this extension in-house is incredibly naive. After everything that happened with Lebron the media has been all over Melo about his extension from the summer. The key is that Melo has never said he doesn;t want to be in Denver, he has always said he will consider it and he just wants to play basketball for now. The fact that his name isn’t on that contract and the "sources" claims (always happens) are the real catalysts for all this media frenzy. Not sure what he could have done or said differently to avoid all this attention.

Just cuz sources say he won’t sign with the Nets doesn’t mean that he won’t do it.  I trust Melo himself a lil more than sources, and why would NJ even be talking to Denver if Melo wasn’t gonna sign an extension there??

PS: 50some hours ago Cliff Lee was going to either the Rangers or Yanks….Different scenario but things in sports can change very quickly.

Keep it professional???..what are you talking about, that’s what Melo has done. He hasn’t gone and told the team or media that he wants to be traded to this or that team, these so called sources have done that. He just decided not to sign a extension, that is professional. He has kept it behind closed doors as much as he could.

Just like the Melo to the knicks rumors I’m gonna just sit and wait till this Nets deal is a fact instead of believing every rumor(source) like a couple of people on here do

And this has very little to do with the money, because if he wanted to get paid he would have taken the 21 million for 3 years. He wants to leave. Melo has been playing through the controversy about being the top free agent next year, and he’s declined to say anything. He want to be a free agent, thats all we know. Everything else is conjecture.
