Mr.Knick 32Participanthttp://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/69802/20101028/melo_its_a_time_for_change/
Carmelo Anthony made perhaps his most revealing public comments to date concerning the stalemate between him and the Denver Nuggets.
"They [Nuggets management] want to sit down and talk, but my thing is it’s way beyond this year. It ain’t got nothing to do with the new GM, Josh [Kroenke], the players. For me, I feel it’s a time for change," Anthony said.
"If I do nothing now, I’m never going to do anything. I feel like my time is now to make a decision if I want to leave or if I want to stay," he continued.
Sources say Anthony is worried about joining a team that has gutted its roster to acquire him, and one source doesn’t think he has warmed much to the idea of playing for the Nets.
Anthony has the Knicks and Bulls at the top of his wish list. Sources say the Knicks don’t have the assets to make a credible offer and the Nuggets didn’t have a lot of interest in acquiring Luol Deng and his large contract.
Yet the Nuggets are still expected to deal Anthony before the trade deadline rather than risk losing him without compensation next summer.
Anthony continues to maintain that he is not as concerned about money as he is in controlling his destiny. And he says that he does not dwell on the maximum-salary extension offer from Denver that remains on the table.
"I can’t go out there playing and thinking like that. I won’t be able to be as effective as I can be out there thinking like that," he said.
TRADE HIM NOW! TRADE HIM NOW!

delfamParticipantI don’t get what people see in Melo, all he really can do is shoot. People think of him as an elite player but he’s not. If you look at Fantasy Basketball where well roundedness matters, Melo goes mid 2nd round, kinda speaks to how one-dimensional he is. I just don’t see why people would pay him that much money. He needs the ball in his hands and doesn’t make his teammates better.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMcDunkin- He can go anywhere. My money? Minnesota, Sacramento or watch out for Detroit. You heard it here first
Deflam- He’s a 25-7 guy. He’s more then a jumper.

You can say that about a lot of players.

delfamParticipantI can see, you guys can’t. I like him I just don’t love him. He has a 45% career FG percentage and 31% three percentage. I just like efficient guys who fit in, I just see it hard building a team around Melo with the way he dominates the ball.

delfamParticipantWhatever, I feel the same about Carmelo as I do with Derrick Rose, both have the ball in their hands to much and their teams will never win unless they learn to share the ball more. Having the ball in one man’s hands is just not good in building a team.

but if he goes to New York..it’d be him and Stoudemire

IndianaBasketballParticipantMelo shoots a lot, but he isn’t ball dominant. He doesn’t always need isolations or clearouts. He has a complete game offensively and can fit in on ANY team.
We’re talking about a player that can play the low or mid post. He can catch and shoot from anywhere. He can make quick deicisons OR he can isolate/clear out.
Roe and Melo would work just fine. They’d be devastating together.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThe bulls have Luol Deng and Taj Gibson, those aren’t championship pieces but they fit for a while to keep the crowd happy while they draft some good players.

SteroidParticipantUnlike LeBron or Wade, Melo actually can operate efficiently without the ball, believe it or not. Just because he scores a lot doesn’t mean he is a bog hog. You really don’t know what you are talking about. He has one of the most complete offensive game of any player right now. The main negative is that he plays defense up to his competition level. Even so, Melo is still an elite player.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe Nuggets organization make money off this. Thats what alot of people dont understand. Everytime there is an article about him, everytime theres a new statement, a rumour, anything, it is like an alive advertisement for the Denver Nuggets Basketball Organization all their live games, online interactive site, and all their products. If they trade him all that ends and they lose their main marketing product. If they let the drama ring in for another year they get hella cash. Then they can also make the whole state hate him.
Ever since Vince Carter got traded at the deadline teams have been pretty reluctant to make any type of a deal for Superstars until the offseason. Okay Gasol got traded but Memphis got alot in return and they werent really getting much in ticket sales at that point anyways.
Denver is gonna get boned either way, is Galinari and Chandler really worth all the money they would be passing up, thats up to them to decide.

SteroidParticipantWhat do you mean by Memphis got a lot in return for Gasol? That was one of the most lopsidded trades ever.
The thing is, the longer they wait, the lesser teams are going to be willing to give up for Carmelo. The Nuggets might be getting some "benefits" from this right now, but long term they aren’t unless they trade him as soon as they can.

McWinningParticipantDont forget Carmelo Anthony put up great numbers with Allen Iverson there commanding many shots.
He can play of the ball, his weakness was his defense (which is part of why Denver was stuck in mediocrity).
But hes improved greatly since then.
Also he hasnt had great talent before, two years ago they were decent but but couldnt quite past the Lakers.
Remember the guys made the playoffs every year in the tough tough west.
Personally as a Blazers fan i think hes definetly better than Brandon Roy, hes definetly not overrated, hes kindve gone under the radar imo.

OhCanada-ParticipantCrealdeal considering other trades, such as the Lebron deal, the Bosh deal, the Carter deal and so on, yes they did get alot of value in return. They were extremely lucky to get Pau’s scrappy, larger, and more defensive minded, yet less skilled younger brother from that trade. They also got a variety of prospects/draft picks that didnt really work out to be that valueable.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantread My post in The Chicago Anthony thread…
New York needs to trade Gallo or Randolph for Rudy Fernandez and Portland’s 2011 1st round pick( They have 2 1st rounders this year )
The Knicks get their SG 3 point specialist and a 1st rounder to add to a Melo deal…
Then they have to Offer…
Gallo or Randolph( whoever the Blazers don’t Take )
Wilson Chandler
Eddie Curry’s huge expiring and the 1st rounder from Portland…with Their pick going to Denver during the Draft( after Houston swaps picks)
for
Carmelo Anthony
The Knicks lineup will be
Felton-Fernandez-Anthony-Amare-Turiaf…
Douglas-Mason Jr-Aziubuke-Mosgov-Fields-on the bench…D’Antoni runs a short rotation anyway…
