Bold statement: I think he might be a dark horse for MVP this year. Say Phil relaxes off the sage for a minute and realizes there are teams like Houston and Phoenix with PGs they dont need, and I dont know, makes a deal for a PG, NY might be pretty legit in the east. Or Grant balls out either scenario.

I know Melo isnt the most popular player in the league, but IMO nothing better than blowing up a team’s gameplan of guarding you cause you are just damn too good. Worked out for Dirk, MJ, Shaq, and Kobe

even Jordan never won a single playoff series w/o Pippen & Grant… This is a team game & Melo doesn’t have much around him… I’d luv to see Melo on a contender, deep in the playoffs, making big shots… No disrespect to the Knicks or their fans, I wanted it to work out in N.Y. – it would have been amazing, but by the time the 2016 Finals begin Melo will be 32 & I just don’t think he has the time to wait for N.Y. to rebuild…

I gotta go against the grain here…cos I think the Knicks still stink as a franchise.

Carmello as MVP – no chance. This is a pipedream you cats have been holding onto since he graced the cover of NBA street on PS2.

Derek Fisher the coach – Honestly looks lost and I have no faith in him

Zingis – Will probably be good, but he’s a Rookie and needs time.

Rest of Knicks – Totally meh. Rolo spends more time fondling mascots than he does thinking about winning.

James Dolan – Created the least pleasant workplace in America.

Zenmaster – There comes a time when youre simply too old to be an effective basketball mind. Ive seen too many old men become senile in their late 60s and 70s. Jackson is like that pensioner who tells you how much better things were back in the day and repeats the same stories over and over.

I’ve been saying for a couple weeks now, actually much longer, that the Knicks look like a playoff team, and they have one of the very best frontcourts in the NBA. O’Quinn is realler than Real Deal Holyfield, and Porzingis is about to show draft day booers just how he feels.

Then you add Robin Lopez, who was as responsible as Damian Lillard for Portland’s dramatic turnaround in 12-13.

Even Derrick Williams looked like a stud last night, scoring 19 points in a variety of ways while swatting shots on the defensive end.

Anybody who paid attention to my NBA picks in the other thread knows that I have Anthony being the leading scorer in the NBA this year.

Knicks are legit, and I feel good for Knicks fans that they finally have a team worth cheering for this year. MSG was a mad house last night.

Here’s 12 minutes of Knicks highlights from last night:

ehhh about Lopez. But other than that couldnt agree more, if healthy, Knicks will be a solid east team. Afflalo is also a nice piece as well. I agree about Carmelo being the leading scorer, if he is healthy.

Carmelo pretty much said he wants Grant to start at PG; which would be the 1st PG in a while who he’s played with that can pass great and hit from outside. Obviously Afflalo can hit from outside, and if Derrick Williams starts, they’ve opened a lot of space for Carmelo to operate. I do think he is set up for a great season. I think he’s on the verge of declining, so if he’s going to do it, he’s got to do it now. I wouldn’t bet on it, but him being MVP is not an outlandish idea.

Porzingis and Lopez are probably the starters, and Porzingis stretches the floor even better than Williams, while playing elite defense at PF.

This is exactly my thought process. Interesting situation they got with Vujacic going on too but hey, in the east, who knows what he can do.

I get all of the Knicks game and follow them through Newsday and they have looked better this preseason than at any point in the past two season. I’ve been critical of Fisher and Jackson for last season but this will be the season to truly judge them. Phil had a vision and a plan heading into the offseason Fisher’s offenses and defenses look much more fluid and modern, despite using the controversial triangle.

I’m excited to watch this season unfold. They have 10 legit rotation players, a star offensive player in Melo, and the ability to play a multitude of lineups. A realistic goal should be the playoffs and a .500 win percentage, which could seed them 6-8 in the Eastern Conference.

I can’t wait to look back at these posts when the Knicks finish with 35 wins.  Sorry, guys.

Nuggets own a New York pick swap for the next draft.

Nothing beats future-loaded trades that make absolutely no sense in hindsight.

The Knicks are far more likely to make the playoffs in the East than the Nuggets are in the West, which makes it unlikely that the pick swap will occur since the Knicks’ pick will be 15th or later. So, I have no idea what your point is…

This comment has +4 already….and I’m wondering if it’s because people really agree with him or cos hes trying to make me seem dumb.

Read it again…is this pick swap really that unlikely? I’d say its very possible.

Since when are the Knicks a lock to make the playoffs? My bookmaker has their under/over at 34 wins. Thats lottery territory. This is 17 more wins than last season, so they would have to be the leagues most improved team just to get to 37 wins (optimistic). They missed the playoffs the previous season too.

There’s also a chance the Nuggets could be a decent 35 win team themselves.

Any lottery combination where the Knicks are in the top 3 and they can kiss that pick goodbye.

I’d rate the possibility that the pick swap happens at 25%

20% chance the Nuggets get more wins than the Knicks.

5% Chance the Knicks leapfrog the Nuggets in the draft order.

Hope that clarifies it for you, cos you seemed confused by my previous comment and I like to help beginners to the draft process.

I said this last year as well. Carmelo is one of the most underrated players in the league. He is a top 5 scorer no doubt. I would not be comfortable if my team was defending a Melo led team with a one point lead and 15 seconds left in the game.

Toronto gets the less favourable of Knicks and Denver 2016 first rounders I believe so the Knicks don’t have a first rounder next year. If both teams struggle, the Raptors may be sitting on a good pick.

Melo could be a contender for scoring champion but I feel someone will drop 27 plus ppg this year whilst Melo may not be above a 25ppg player at this stage in his career unless he dominates the ball totally or tries to be a Philly era AI.

No chance Carmelo wins MVP this year. The only way Carmelo could win the award is if the Knicks finish top 3 in the East- which they will not. MVP rightfully goes to someone who leads an elite team, not just a suprisingly good one. The Cavs, Hawks, Heat, Wizards and Bucks have superior teams.

Then you have to consider all of the goliaths in the West that have more probability of winning since that’s where the great teams are. While Melo win MVP? In a word, ‘nah’.
