I can’t wait for the Draft Lottery… Who do you guys think will get the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick? Actually I’m more interested with the lottery rather than the draft this year… No Barnes, Sullinger and Perry Jones, (sigh)… for the first time in my life, I have never been this less excited about a draft class…

#1- Charlotte- Stern will make sure Jordan gets a building block, Kyrie Irving to Charlotte as the future of the franchise

#2- Cleveland- Derrick Williams is no LeBron but he’s better than everybody on the roster at the moment

#3- Washington- Enes Kanter take over at the 4 with McGee developing all they would need is a 3 and they can get 1 next year in the draft stocked with SF’s(Barnes, Jones, Gilchrist, McAdoo)

The Jazz are bound to get one of their two lottery picks in the top 3. I see it going down like this:

    Timberwolves

    Jazz

Cleveland (The lower of their two picks so that they will have 2 top 5 picks)

"When is the lottery, is it tomorrow night?"

Technically yes since your post is at 1:39 a.m.

"#1- Charlotte- Stern will make sure Jordan gets a building block, Kyrie Irving to Charlotte as the future of the franchise"

What will that mean for D.J. Augustin?

I think this draft will be filled with guys that will be better than anyone expected…

    1.Norris Cole is a sleeper..

2.Marshon Brooks is going to surprise some people,i hear in workouts he’s showing a much more consistent outside than he did in college…

3.Kyle Singler..might slipped into the 2nd round.but he’s smart,he can play both inside and out..Put the ball on the floor and he plays physical..

4.Ricky Rubio..If he decides to come over he can have the same effect Jason Kidd did when he 1st came in the league…Kidd wasnt the best shooter, but he was a great defender, good in transition and his court vision was superb….

5.Tristian Thompson..He reminds me of Ed Davis…I’ll select him before i pick Vessely..

the wolves have a 25% of winning the lottery. all the many years and they have never had a no1 pick. this will be their year.

pistons have a 4% chance of winning with minny having six as many balls in the lottery…

Since this is a weak draft by analyst, I see Derrick Williams is from California so I think the Warriors or the Kings will get #1 since that usually how it works (LeBron to Cleveland and Rose to Chicago), that would drop Irving down to 2, thus screwing Minny up cuz they have Rubio on wait and Irving staring them in the face and Cleveland #3

    Once again:

    1- GS or Sac

    2- Minny

    3- Cleveland

Just how the last few years have gone for the Jazz. Having their owner die, then sloan leave and then trading away their only real All Star to the Nets. It is time for things to go their way this time instead of needing to trade both lotto picks to try and get a top pick.

I don’t think that they will do that but they could, just like when they did that for DWill. You just have to trust that the front office knows what they are doing.

Why minus someones lottery predictions? Because you know better than they do? Literally, as long as they choose three of the 12 teams with lottery possibilities, you should probably just be neutral. The things people on this board get pissed off at are incredible.

Well, my crystal ball is telling me, I will probably be wrong as all hell, but nonetheless, I will give it a try.

    14. Houston Rockets

    13. Phoenix Suns

    12. Utah Jazz

    11. Golden State Warriors

    10. Milwaukee Bucks

    9. Charlotte Bobcats

    8. Cleveland Cavaliers

    7. Detroit Pistons

    6. Utah Jazz

    5. Washington Wizards-Congratulations to the Sacramento Kings, you have moved up in the lottery

    4. Cleveland Cavaliers-Congratulations to the Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves, you will have a top 3 pick.

    3. Minnesota Timberwolves

    2. Sacramento Kings

    1. Toronto Raptors

Who knows if that will happen, but it could. One thing that I do not think has ever happened is that the 1-2-3 teams have kept their same picks since the lottery has been instituted. The last 5 years have been these sequences:

    2006:

    1. Toronto Raptors (5th highest probability of #1 pick)

    2. New York Knicks (traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry deal) (2nd highest probability)

    3. Charlotte Bobcats (3rd highest probability)

    2007:

    1. Portland Trail Blazers (t-6th)

    2. Seattle Super Sonics (5th)

    3. Atlanta Hawks (4th)

    2008:

    1. Chicago Bulls (9th)

    2. Miami Heat (1st)

    3. Minnesota Timberwolves (3rd)

    2009:

    1. LA Clippers (t-2nd, one less combination than Washington Wizards)

    2. Memphis Grizzlies (t-5th)

    3. OKC Thunder (4th)

    2010:

    1. Washington Wizards (5th, one less combination than GSW)

    2. Philadelphia 76ers (6th)

    3. New Jersey Nets (1st)

All in all, while every teams chances at the first pick are slim, the last place finisher has a higher percentage chance at landing the 4 spot than any one of the first three picks.

     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_NBA_Draft

My reasoning for my picks is as ridiculous and insane as anyone elses. I was initially going to say Sacramento had the first pick, but I realized that the 5th place team had it last year, so I dropped them to 2. I realize that this would technically give the first place team the third pick two years in a row, but I will take my chances. Yes, I live in Toronto, but my guess of them winning is more based on them being the 3rd best possibility than my ties to this city. So, I pick 3rd best possibility, 5th best possibility and best possibility, and my picks are as insane as the top 3 best possibilities all moving around to make the top 3 spots.

Personally, I like the lottery, it is crazy and could easily be a conspiracy, but it shakes things up and makes it interesting. It definitely has prevented teams from benefiting off of tank jobs, even if it will more than likely never completely eliminate tanking. So, I find little to nothing wrong with it at this point in time, I do not think it is much of a conspiracy besides maybe the frozen envelope theory (Knicks, 1985), but all in all, most of the time a conspiracy is formed, the number 1 pick has not worked out in the way many expected (Wizards 2001, Blazers 2007). Yes, LeBron to Cleveland and Derrick Rose to Chicago seemed to good to be true, but I for one think they worked out fine (even for Cleveland, who did not win a title, but made a lot of money and played in a championship, something they had not done before).

By the way, for those who are wondering, the last time the team with the worst record got the first pick was 2004, when Orlando drafted Dwight Howard. The year before, Cleveland was tied for the worst record with Denver, and they each had a 22.5% chance of the first pick. Before than, the only other time the team with the worst record in the league chose first were in 1990 (New Jersey Nets) and 1988 (LA Clippers, before the use of the weighted system). That team has the highest percentage chance of the pick, but history shows that they are not always the team that gets the pick. Also, even with the Knicks possible conspiracy theory in 1985, they had the 3rd worst record in the league, so it was not completely unfounded.

I cannot fully explain why, but I want to see the top two picks won by either Cleveland or Utah. It doesn’t matter who, though I am partial to this long-shot possibility:

    1) Utah

    2) Utah (from NJ)

    3) Cleveland (from LA)

    4) Minnesota

    5) Cleveland

Somehow I think potential top five picks would not be quite so amused by it.

I would love for the Jazz to get two of the top three picks but I figured that is the homer in me. Honestly, I would rather that the Jazz get the 1st and the 3rd in that situation. I really do want Cleveland to get the 2nd pick and have it be the pick they got from the Clippers. I want the Cavs to have two top 5 picks this draft. I want to see them doing better.

If the Jazz did get the 1st and the 3rd pick in the draft I would love to see them get Irving and then try and trade the 3rd pick to the Raptors for Derozan and the raptors pick. The Jazz might need to throw in CJ Miles but I would do that in a heartbeat if Toronto would do that.

I am loving the way you are thinking here. I think that would be cool personally. Everyone would be crying conspiracy, the Mormon church would of course be at the heart of it. Honestly, I do not care who wins it either, and I have rarely been right (I predicted Washington 2001 and Chicago 2008, those just felt right), but if this happened, it would be super cool. If either New Jersey or the Clippers move up, it would be kind of funny, seeing that these are two of the more cursed franchises in basketball. Well, hoping the ping pong balls shake things up tomorrow, always makes things more interesting having some teams on the verge of competing get that piece that sets them in the right direction. As for the other teams who do not win, just hope that gives you better luck in next years draft, which will definitely be stronger at the top.

First off I am a huge jazz fan so you would think i would be hoping for jazz to get it but i had the strangest dream last night it was about the the top 3 in the lottery and they were:

at number 3 was utah who selected Kyrie Irving the pick from NJ

#2 was minnesota who took Enes Kanter

and #1 was Milwaukee who took Derrick Williams

Like i said it was a strange dream but wouldn’t it be weird if it really happened that way. I doubt it will just because milwaukee only has a 1 percent chance of winning.   I’m like all the other jazz fans on here who want to see the jazz  end up with two of the top three.

I hope the warriors get the third pick, so we get Kanter. If we get the 1st or 2nd, we wont take Kyrie (hopefully), because we already have two 6-3 guards. If we get Derrick Williams, teams Brian Scalebrine can get boards on our guys with D Wright and Williams and Lee in the front court. I think Kanter could be the prize of the draft, or a Turkish Darko.

You know this is a WEAK DRAFT WITH NO STARS.Unlike the past few years when they would advertised the Draft Lottery they’re say ”The Lebron James Sweepstakes”,’The Blake Griffin Sweepstakes”..or ‘The John Wall Sweepstakes”..they dont mention the players they only mention each teams odds of Winning the Lottery….lol
